    I don't think you understand what we are talking about here. We are talking about the clamps being tight and the whole grip back and forth in the clamps maybe 1/32 of an inch. Its really not anything more than an annoyance NOT the whole grip slipping around the bars and causing crashes.:monkey:

    If nothing else works you could try and cut the tube down. You might be able to cut off the bent part...you would only lose an inch or so of post extension. It would probably be better than trashing the whole frame.

    Nothing is confused...changing gearing is unrelated to the torque provided by cranks. Shorter cranks provide less torque. Gearing is a way to compensate for less torque...if the OP wants to buy new cranks and rings.

    I figured...the comment had to be made though. If I don't have horizontal drops my preferred tensioner is an old used shortcage road mech, they have quite strong springs and the price can't be beat. I got one for free/cheap a long time ago and it works great. See what your shop has floating...

    I have been happy with my Planet X rims. I'm with you in Rynolites being weaksauce. I think I might have the discontinued BMF model, but check out the LMF they have held up well for me and have a machined breaking surface.

    Check out the mad river area. I hiked a ways in on one trip and there were quite a few lakes, some with tons of trout. Motorcycles are allowed for part of the year so check the access rules for bikes etc, but it could be good.

    Go to a motorcycle shop. They will have a huge selection of ff helmets sized for tiny kids to huge ogres like me. I have never seen a bike shop that compares to even small moto shops for helmet selection.
