This place was a dump when I first moved in, random stuff just nailed to the wall, this hideous fake wood wallpaper, crap everywhere. Spent about a week or two ripping most of the stuff out, painting, building the bench, putting up more lights and getting all the stuff setup. Pretty good now, I need to build a bike rack somewhere, or setup hooks.

Now THAT'S how you do it. Do you now own stock in Park?

I need to get some of those plastic shelving units. I think I will be off to Canadian Tire or Costco in search of these today.

I've been dying to get the truing stand and headset press for a while, finally bit the bullet and picked them up the other day, makes life so much easier.

I got those shelves at Home Depot, if they have one in your area. I think it was like $35US apiece? Totally worth it.

If I played darts in your house I'd be buying you new tires..

Costco used to have some really nice chrome wire shelving units for about $70 a piece, unless you are dead set on the plastic shelving I'd get the wire shelving, they won't sag in the middle if you leave something heavy on them for a long time like the plastic will, they come with wheels too so you can scoot the shelves around your shop if you need to rearrange once in a while.

I think these pics have been posted before, but not much has changed other than more stuff being piled on my bench. Some of the bikes have changed over the years, but it basically looks the same. I still need to put in MUCH better lighting...

I will second the chrome shelving over plastic for the exact reason that Kornphlake stated. I believe I picked ours up at Home Depot for $40 or less. You can load a lot of weight on them and they are sturdy.

Here are a few of my setup. I put a garage/loft addition on the house about 4 or 5 years ago, and I pretty much built the whole thing around a shop and workspace. It's kind of a mess, but I do get a lot of use out of it.

I put in this roll-up door so I could get my dirtbike in more easily:

I use the chainsaw for cutting cables and housing ;):

That would be my Halloween costume (Robot Ron) on top of the cabinet:

It was an utter b!tch mounting all these hoists across the ceiling:

Finally have a garage to call my own. Two car garage, I choose to park mine outside, so I can have my bikes setup in there. Still need to get my bike storage settled, was thinking about hooks, but I have a fair number of carbon wheels, and I don't really want to hang the bikes by them.

Yeah, it's a wreck right now, I decided to spread just about all my junk out so I could organize it a little better, but knee surgery has interfered.

The benches were $50 at CostCo, really stoked with them.

On of my favorite parts of the setup, an Apple HiFi. Target was closing those out a while back, got mine for $88, down from $350! Couldn't say no.

And yes, there is a little sofa back there somewhere, right now it's propping up the majority of the rigs.

Peg board to mount the tools on the wall is the next step, when I'm finally able to stand for more than 5 minutes...

Mines got a fridge, a bed, a school desk, dresser and closet! Fridge is only full of the cheapest/largest quantity beer though. :twitch: The rest goes to food and bike parts.:monkeydance:
lol! Yeah, my room looked pretty much like that when I was an undergrad. :thumb:

Now my "shop" consists of a shed that my landlord had the wisdom to vent the tumble dryer into, so everytime someone dries their laundry my bikes get wet... :clapping:

John, you win the award for cleanest, most organized shop, that's for damn sure. Nice. I wish i had room to hoist bikes...i don't think you could even stand up in my shop.

I'm gonna take a pic of my "shop" so you can laugh at hillbilly mechanics. I've got a shed leftover on my lot from the old homeplace that is leaning and has busted out windows. A Wren (that's a bird) has a huge nest in a stack of tires. No electrical yet.

I have a basement room I can barely stand up in.

Damn! Those pictures bring back memories. I lived there too and my room looked pretty much identical. Forgot how much it sucked.

You really take that place for granted though. I kinda miss being able to spill a beer/soup/chain-lube/whatever on the floor and not care (or be able to tell for that matter).

Mine is a three in one. Fix bikes, lift weights, train MMA with the homies. It's rad. I tried to use photomerge, but didn't work so well.

Pell grants excess checks and Stafford loans paid for the last two bikes I've bought. I haven't bought a new bike since I graduated in '03

I don't have pics but my work shop has a couple of really neato features. It was originally a single car detattched garage. We extended it out the back and created a seperate bike room for the MTB and dirt bikes. It has locking solid wood/stainless clad pocket doors (salvaged from an old furniture store). So when the main door is up, you can't see the good stuff inside from the street. Also, we built a bike shop style double high rack system on one side that fits about 10 bikes total. And we can fit 3 (4 if we squeeze) dirt bikes along the other side of the "bike room."

We built a storage loft above half of the garage, and built storage shelves and a work bench down one side of the main room of the shop. The main area is mostly just tools and work space for bikes and vehicles. The work bench was also built with a sheet metal top for super durability. We are planning on putting in a sink for washing up and saftey reasons.

We stashed the air compressor in the loft to reduce noise and also put in pull down hoses. Oh, and we installed a natural gas heating furnace so it's nice and toasty in the winter months.

I love my work shop!
