anybody know of a 44/55 headset that you can run a tapered fork in?

i know works makes a 44/55, but it requires a 1 1/8" fork. emailed them to see if they can just swap a 40mm race on there.

i have looked high and low, and can't find anything.

thanks in advance!

Cane Creek has the set you want: ZS44-EC56/40, 44.0 Upper/55.95 Lower, Tapered HT/Tapered ST. Avail in just 1deg, or the whole set (0.5,1.0,1.5 deg).

Universalcycles.com has em in stock.

blackmarket roam. its a ZS, yup.

i know that lapierre uses 55mm also. pretty uncommon. gravity, CC, acros all make 55mm normal headsets. running the gravity now. would love to put a -1.5 or -2 on the bike tho. just can't find an angled headset.

yeah, i emailed black market about the wisdom of boring the frame to 56mm. i can't believe it would make any difference in durability.

thanks!

haha, not the frame of course.. just the CCAS lower cup, and you can get another cup later for another '56' frames.

BTW, for 1.5 steerer I reckon you might need the EC56 not the ZS.. cheers!

Word, thanks man!

Removing .5mm of wall thickness seems crazy sketchy on a headset... Worked fine for you though?

Did you use a works headset? Or and Angleset?

Thanks a ton for the help.

Sorry for crappy blackberry pic :

Left : Still plenty of thickness of CCAS ZS56 cup @55mm..
Right : FSA standard ZS55 cup for reference when machining

But this is for 30mm steerer, for 40mm you'll need CCAS EC56/40 (i think)

Good luck!

I have a -2* in my Scott Genius that my buddy made for me. He would probably do one for you too. He needs to know the HT length and his email is mo at vrl.ch. His name is Sergio and tell him Ben sent you.

I would definitely recommend the 'fixed' angleset like @buckoW's scott, as the CCAS developed some problems after 6 months of use (constant adjustment/noise from the gimbles). I have the works fixed angleset on my sunday and works flawlessly..
