....
I think it would be funny as hell if Lopes were to win.
I'm betting everybody is riding their DH bikes save lopes, who's riding the mojo HD.how bout bike wise... any special tune or even shorter travel (driver8, remedy or sxtrail) will be used?
The World Champs usually never returns to the same venue twice, Mont Sainte Anne next year will be the first time the World Champs will return to the same venue. Anyway, Lopes ain't gonna win.If lopes wins on his short travel bike, the worlds will never return to Can-bra. Or at least it shouldn't.
was worlds at vail twice? i know 2001, but wasn't there worlds there in like 1994 or something? not trying to one-up, just curious. The World Champs usually never returns to the same venue twice, Mont Sainte Anne next year will be the first time the World Champs will return to the same venue. Just checked, on the ball you are, Francois Gachet won the DH worlds in '94 at Vail, then Nico in '01 at Vail again.was worlds at vail twice? i know 2001, but wasn't there worlds there in like 1994 or something? not trying to one-up, just curious.
i think lopes has actually has potential to do quite well (podium would not be surprising).
http://www.rotorburn.com/news/180147/Canberra_Worlds_track_updateWhat about the changes to the course? I heard there were some - anyone know what they were?
yeah, i agree with you. the track doesn't stoke me out as a good representation of DH.Imagine if for the Downhill event in the 2011 Alpine Skiing World Champs that the track was so short, flat and "un-downhill" that a 3-4 year retiree Slalom specialist skier could come out fo retirement and have a realistic shot at smoking most of the current DH skiing stars? That would just never happen as it would not live up to the heritage and prowess of what a true DH event is all about.
Yep and yep. I was there for both of them!was worlds at vail twice? i know 2001, but wasn't there worlds there in like 1994 or something? not trying to one-up, just curious.

I am rooting for Rhys as well for the Jr. title.Junior Men: Rhys Willemse. Saw this kid do a timed run last week in Canberra with the rest of the aussie juniors. He blew the rest away by 6 secs and wasn't even going flat out. After his 13th at Maribor, its hard to go past this kid.
12 am EST if Im not mistaken. From what I see, Canberra is 14 hrs ahead of us here in the US (EST anyway). As for the live broadcast, what time is it playing here for us in the US?
For Sunday I started the the Jr's at 10:30. I wanted to see them and the ladies race at 13:00 before the Elite men start (14:00).It says Elite Men DH is at 14.00. That would be 2 pm correct? I was thinking 12 am (sunday) EST and 9 pm (saturday) PST.....
haha... we'll get this right sooner or later. For Sunday I started the the Jr's at 10:30. I wanted to see them and the ladies race at 13:00 before the Elite men start (14:00).
So Elite men would be at 10:00pm PST Saturday and Sunday 1:00am EST.
Ahh I gotcha. Its 17 hours here in CA. So Men's Elite DH Starts about 9:00pm PST and 12:00am EST. There. I think we got it.haha... we'll get this right sooner or later.
Im on EST. Canberra AUS is 14 hrs ahead of my time here. So 2 pm their time, would be 12 am my time.
Why because he is talkative and having a great time this season? I wouldn't call it smugness, I would call it confidence.Just don't let it be Sam Hill...his interview smugness bugs me.
If he wins this one, there will be one excited sam hill and will be cool if he won and pulled a Rob Warner on the finish line interview and says "it's great to win, but this track is f-ing gay" (as Rob said when he won Kaprun fire road world cup).Just don't let it be Sam Hill...his interview smugness bugs me.
To me he comes across as "I'm better then everyone else". I call that smug. I'm rooting for Peaty. Why because he is talkative and having a great time this season? I wouldn't call it smugness, I would call it confidence.
Representin PNW and America, F*ck Yeah!Watch out for this kid, stars and bars.
Sam's always been like that, even before he was winning. Its just his personality.Just don't let it be Sam Hill...his interview smugness bugs me.
This just in....he needs a good single result this year, kinda like he would have got at Andorra.
Sam won worlds, and WC champs in 07. Id like to see that again is all I'm saying, considering he won neither in 08.This just in....
Sam Hill wins Mont St. Anne 2009!!! DH MTBings own 'classic'.
And is leading the world cup series.
