Not only was Matt Hensley one of the best skaters of all time, but he was one of the coolest guys I ever met and had the pleasure of skating with. That's also a personal favorite video of mine.

I have no idea where I am
Here's a couple bits of riding awesomeness that require a little imagination :

When you're cruising down a loose rocky trail and you catch a little air, even the tiniest bit. It's not the sound of knobbies on rocks and dirt, or the sound of rocks hitting your frame, or the sound when spray hits the leaves off the side of the trail behind you. It's that brief moment of silence when your tires leave the ground.

Your first perfect turn. Normally when you turn on two wheels they track out side of each other. In a perfect turn your wheels stay exactly in the same track and you exit the corner with the same amount of speed as you entered it with. For a few milliseconds you experience a sense of weightlessness. You feel like you are floating.

About 10 years ago, one of my buddies went to Japan for a study abroad program. He came back with some drifting video's made by a company called "option". Ever since i saw those, i wanted a drift car. But now that it's getting popular out here, i don't want one anymore. good thing, since i can't even afford a beater version.

Try it on 2 wheels :D

Do they really drift on crotch rockets now? I know the supermoto guys do it all the time. But i didn't think they'd do it on bullet bikes. That's crazy.

i love that driftin ****e. Having control of an out of control vehicle is impressive as hell. Too bad those stupid fast and furious movies make everything look so damn lame and played out.

you better believe it.... ;)

That's more like someone just breaking traction for a split second, not drifting. I can break traction on my felt cafe cruiser just by pedaling hard in gravel. they're not the same. Drifting is trying to stay sideways as much as possible and being smooth about it. it's not about getting a fast lap time either. that picture right there just looks like he broke traction when he accelerated out of the turn. someone post a vid of some moto's drifting. Other than those circle track dirt races that the rednecks do.

Joe, it's The Devil Wears Prada. I'm really into the Christian based screamo and metalcore.

I have no pictures, but there's a small lake we quad and dirtbike into, which is surrounded by a rock face, forrest, and endless hills. It's amazing and really peaceful, too bad word of it got out and it gets hammered now.

It is different in that it serves a purpose vs. drifting that is basically a waste of otherwise good tires. I have respect for the skill required to drift, but like NASCAR running circle tracks, I just don't "get" it. NASCAR on road courses is sweet, though.

<edit> That Gary McCoy slide in slow motion is bad ass. I would crap myself.

The original "drifters"...and we used it to keep our speed. Nothing better than dumping it into a corner and then steering with the gas pedal.

Yeah. I love the skill and the machinery involved. It does destroy tires, but so does regular car racing. They usually run more expensive tires for max grip and go through a set or two a day. Drifters go through tires too, but they're more like general street tires. Just wide as eff. There are tons of things i "don't get" either. Like how my neighbor can spend over 1K for golf clubs. But he says the same about me riding downhill. To each his own I guess.
I've always been a fan of some different auto sports. Drifting, autocrossing, supermoto, supercross, super bikes, and street legal drag racing. No nascar though. Ugh.
Oh yeah, and rally racing. Back when McCrae was killing everybody in subarus. Back when Ford had their Escort Cosworth still in it.
