I've tried a lot of things, and I've found that (for me) adhesive-backed velcro works as a pretty damn good chainstay protector. You've got to use the "hook" side, the "loop" side wears a lot quicker. I've since peeled it off the chainstays, but now I've got this good amount of adhesive residue. Any ideas on something that will get rid of the residue without taking off the paint? I know WD-40 works really well at taking off the residue, but can take off the paint.

Cheers,

ive never had WD40 take off paint before but ive always used goo-gone to remove the velcro's adhesive.
and ive also found the the softer, "loop" side makes for a quieter ride and actually last longer

Thanks for the quick responses. So will the goo-gone take away paint?

IH8Rice, if I let it sit for a moment, then rub hard, the WD40 rubbed a bit of paint away...weird.

no, it wont take the paint off.

if WD40 took your paint off, then it must be a shoddy paint job
