I've got a 30.9 carbon post I would like to shave down .9mm to fit a Sunday. Should I or will I be greatly affecting the integrity of the post? I would hate to get carbon splinters on the dark side of the moon.

even if you had access to a lathe - which would be necessary to maintain tolerances across the diameter an circular symmetry, machining carbon in the manner you are suggesting is a bad idea.

I've done this to a post before. It was on a lathe. It worked, but was really ugly. I don't think it was that much material, though. Pretty sketchy. Just go buy a $12 post ya cheap bastard.

Edit: just noticed the word CARBON. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.
The post will be significantly weakened, and your eyes/skin/life will be full of carbon splinters before that is ever an issue.
