Easton carbon bars disprove your theory. Though I still have to see before I belive in carbon cranks.what happens if rock chop bit by bit on carbon crank? carbon with scratches might be not good. My saint cranks are full of big dents on the ends The same reason I dont want carbon bar if im bad rider i.e. crashing often and getting scratches on this.

There was a few pairs floating around at the end of last season.I believe that truvativ has some being prototyped right now. A carbon version of the descendant.
I was pretty against carbon for a while but it seems the way of the future. Would love to try a Carbon v10
and look how well that worked for them. carbon cranks and the associated forum hatery like totally led to their demise.
Really?Easton carbon bars disprove your theory. Though I still have to see before I belive in carbon cranks.
OK heres the deal to all of the idiots who think carbon explodes once it has been exposed to any type of abrasion. And you wonder why I assume you are an anti carbon troll? 1st - pic taken out of context is really a good proof. 2nd - is that their dh bar or one of their new bars?Really?
Never ass|u|me.And you wonder why I assume you are an anti carbon troll? 1st - pic taken out of context is really a good proof. 2nd - is that their dh bar or one of their new bars?
I wish you could've seen the carbon DH stuff we were just beginning to work on. Think: 300g(!) lighter than Saint with equal or greater strength, modular design, etc.

Besides the 50+ jobs lost when RF went tits-up, the fact that these never got produced is one of the biggest travesties of the whole debacle. From a personal/"I love cool DH sh!t" point of view and for the sake of the industry, I hope our main carbon engineer, Jon Staples, gets snapped up quickly by a co that can make these reality.

thanks for the pic. As far I can see that the ends of cranks have some thick cover around, then I'd be worried less if I used them. That proves that carbon is sensitive for physical abuse. If cranks have quite thickness so it might take some deep scratches/dents before it loses strength.
Im glad you didnt mention barsCARBON FIBER IS FINE. Can it break? Yes, but so can anything else. Does it bend first before breaking like aluminum? No, it DELAMINATES which indicates-yep it may break soon.
I would rock those easton carbon wheels in a heartbeat if they were not 2K.
Hell, I'ld rock the leg, the wheels, cranks and the V10 and call myself "Captain Carbon"
if it were not for the price tag...considering the leg is about 20K it would be a spendy proposition
Just rumors as far as I know.
whats up with the mec rumours? any insight?
Hopefully they wind up with some of the local Metro Vancouver companies. I was looking at my cranks last night (I'm thinking of going 1x9 for my trail bike - possibly the E13 crank) and noticed that my bashguard, middle and granny were made by three separate Metro Van companies: Straitline, RF, and Envy. Hopefully Straitline or Envy can benefit from the IP (and the heads they are contained in) that was "liberated" by RF...Just rumors as far as I know.
I think it's very likely that the Race Face brand will be snapped up by someone months or more down the road, but I'd be really surprised if RF made any sort of real 'comeback' (think: Iron Horse). Most of the IP walked out the door with the employees who will likely wind up with other companies.

Wished i head 750 euro they would be strong enought to handle my weight for DH riding, realy sweet looking carbon cranks.they are still available
price got down to 750 euros (including 19% sales tax)
and as far as i know the DO hold up just fine, but for obvious reasons there are not to many people out there riding them

If you think like one rich kid I know - you are not spending a 750 euro but saving 250 and saving is basicly earning so you should buy as much as possible and you are richWished i head 750 euro they would be strong enought to handle my weight for DH riding, realy sweet looking carbon cranks.

Though I have to say I've seen them live and they look really cool.
It is carbon - just looks like alloy to instil confidence for carbon haters..i see what looks like weld at some junctions.
it's referring to the cranks not the frame....i see what looks like weld at some junctions.
