I understand this site has been constructed on Pinkbike hatred, and I respect that. When I first started posting here there was a "pinkbike feet" joke in almost every thread, and a steady stream of hilarious bikes with 24X3in Gazzis to take e-sh!ts on.
While I would never suggest that much has changed on the forum side of things (exhibit A, and B ), there is no denying that the site has played a much larger, and much more legitimate role in the industry in the past few years. In the past year(ish) alone they've brought on Sterling Lorence, Ian Hylands, and Richard Cunninham, they get exclusives like this, and they have videos with literally hundreds of thousands of views.
What do you guys think? How many of your check the PB front page often? What do you think of their coverage of the industry/culture?
As for myself, in the past I used PB almost exclusively for the Buy&Sell section. While it took a lot of sorting through BS posts and questions, the selection was always bigger than RM (albeit so was the risk). In the last couple years I've checked the home page more and more and currently its one of the top few sites that I visit. The format really intrigues me. I don't really do the social media side of it, but I like that what people write or shoot can eventually make it to the front page. Every once in a while I'll wonder if the forum has gotten any better, venture in, and quickly backpedal. Its good to see kids stoked on bikes, but the stupidity in there is still almost numbing.
I think overall, its good for the industry to have daily updates and new content on a site with what appears to be a real budget. I know a lot of people will argue that its still just hype and nonsense, but I'm ready to argue against that.
