i was looking on the stans site and was going to make the wifes bike tubeless but noticed they dont recommend using the WTB's and stans toget here.....WTF is this not a good idea?
Bevis and I just talked about this. The trick with an older tire is if there are pinholes or cuts, you have to lean the tire so the fluid is right over the hole.
I did that with one sidewall hole, but I had to leave it for 3 days on the wheel's side.
Yeah, you let teh Stans dry up a bit, as to allow it to build up on itself and seal the hole. Personally i would have stuck a patch over the hole, then remounted the tire, that works well. Have done that many times. But as far as the STans goes, people need to understand that it wont just fix a hole in a tire just by adding it. Unless the tire was already sealed up with some stans to begin with, or you take the time to let it set up a bit in the hole. Remember stans isnt sticky right out of the bottle, but after a tide or two, it sets up a bit, and makes for a great sealant.
well she wants some of the new weirwolf LT's so ill be using new tires.........i was wondering if it was from the them not using steel wired tires cause thats what i have on my STLHD (maxxis)
