to start things off, i have stomach problems...no doctor has ever figured it out..or wanted to. so i had a trip planed for northstar...had to cancel last minute because of my stomach. i can't exactly fly if i can't get away from the toilet and the pains in my stomach r so severe it hurts to do anything. so as soon as i get home my gf breaks up with me on the account that i don't like to go out and we r different people, she likes to go to bars i don't. this is the girl who has been madly in love with me for 3 years and who i have plans to marry. so we r taking that infamous "break". that just makes me feel so much better. on top of that my grandmother had a heart attack and had to go have open heart surgery. she's ok now thank god. to top it all off....I LOST 20LBS! i went from 160 down to 140...i'm weak as hell and my damn bike is too over sprung for my weight! i feel like i can't preload the suspension! arggh sorry for the rant. anyone have any lighter springs?

Sorry to hear all the bad stuff bro. I know it isn't nice to throw religion in the mix, but there's an old saying:
"He never puts more on us than we can handle"
Sounds ironic, I know, but just stay strong and you'll come out on top! Good luck.

That would explain why I didn't see you this weekend :(

Sorry to hear about the stomach problems and the breakup Luke – all I can say is "be strong!". These are simply regular hurdles that life tends to throw at you. Just get over them and move on.

I also had somewhat of a crappy weekend…third run at North Star I biffed it in a rock garden and either bruised or broke a rib. Tried to ride it off but had to stop due to the pain. Today I really feel the delay effect (i.e. pain wasn’t too bad yesterday, but today it hurts like a SOB). Also bent a brand new 2 piece Hope rotor… Oh well, it’s only a rotor – that you can always replace.

Hope you get to re-schedule your trip and come ride with us at N*.

Take care..

hey thanks i was gonna call or email u to let u know what was up, but i was a little messed up and wasnt thinking. that definitely sucks about crashing and bending the rotor. take it easy and get better. i got a credit on my ticket so i can fly out whenever i want basically, right now it's just a matter of getting everything in order and getting better...i'm seeing a specialist on tuesday and then i can decide from there. in terms of the gf...we r having a talk wednesday. girls suck.

Sorry to hear about your hard times. Keep your head up, and I'm sure you'll get through this.

I'm certainly not a doctor, but it could be possible that your stomach problems could have something to do with your girlfriend...just a thought. Nonetheless, keep you head up and spend time hanging out with you grandma. It will make her feel a lot better...

This is true.
A couple of months after my mother passed away, I had all these stomach problems. Had tests ran and all that stuff, and everything was fine.
And the stomach problems SLOWLY went away.
Alot of stress thrown on you at once will cause it, and it sounds like you have alot of stress. I don't know if she is, but if your girlfriend is a constant cause of stress, then that situation will not get any better. People say that relationships are hard, but good ones are easy.
I hope you work out troubles and you and your family heals up.

And Acadian,
If I know you at all, that bent rotor hurt more than your rib. ;)
You heal up too. :thumb:

Yeah....you gotta see a GI and get checked out. (And the checking is no fun....BELIEVE me...)

But Crohn's, colitis, IBD need to be ruled out. But it could be nothing. But you need to get it checked. I dropped about 20 lbs too before they got my pills right. Now I'm all good.

You probably suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I had it bad about 10 years ago and took some medication which seemed to help.
a) don't take advice from random people on the internet :D
b) afaik, IBS is kind of a catch-all "disease" for stomach disorders that defy other rational explanation

I'm not random, I've been here since 2001, plus I stayed at a Holiday Inn, so I know these things :p

exactly...sort of like "stress" when doctors can't figure out some things...you get the old line of stress or something else that a doctor can ease out of not being able to find out whats wrong...D

Sounds like something you really need to get sorted-the stomach thing. If you lost 20lbs because of that...then there something wrong.

GF's leaving? I'll one up ya...my wife of 9yrs just split and I've had to find out all kinds of uncool $hit she had been up to!

My attitude lately has been..if it doesn't kill you, it will only make you stronger.

No matter how bad you have it...theres always someone out there with a worse situation-take solace in that.

Life at home sucks......but there still............... WHISTLER!(in 2 weeks)
FOCK YEAH!

Good Luck

that's the problem tho: stress actually has/can have a huge physiological effect, not just the head stuff. i imagine that it's minefield trying to sort out the truth when all you have is inconclusive tests and tales from the patient of questionable accuracy...

Only one thing to do...get a buddy to dial *67, then call her and tell her he's the Lead Tech at the Centers for Disease Control and is responsible for notifying all parties that have come into contact with you that you have a combination of 2 highly serious genital STD's, bot shyphillis and ghonnorhea...then don't answer your phone for a few months while she sweats it out and gets lots of painful exams at her OBGYN before you fess up on the prank.

Yeah but just don't blow it off as "stress". That's what I thought it was when I first went to the doc. Turns out it was more.

My cousin did the same thing as MIke when he was finishing his engineering degree...turbs out it was a rather serious bout with Chron's. He has now been happily in remission for 10 years or so thanks to some good drugs.

I'm late seeing this, but I know EXACTLY what you are going through with the girl, I was in the exact same situation (almost 3 years strong) and then out of left field she hit me (about a month ago now) with basically the same things yours did.

Anyways, I'm resting in the advice that the other people have given because its helped in the past: "You'll never have to deal with more than you can handle"; And "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
