Wait you are Canadian? That explains a lot. The courtesy phone doesn't do international calls, metaphysically speaking.

Cool thread. Talked to my brother about this. He said my recollection was spot on. He lived in London ON also. Played Hockey there. My Dad doesn't remember any of this or that he was responsible for our constant upheaval. When we try to talk to him about it he turns the TV up louder.... I am afraid he is denial of his Shitbird status. I am so glad I got involved in bikes. Saved my life.

I have no idea where I am
Born in Los Angeles, spent teenage years mostly in the suburbs of Philly, but have spent most of my life in different parts of North Kackalacky.

Although I would love to leave the Bible Belt, NC does have some seriously diverse topography. Hard to beat actually.

East Boston and Worcester. Dude you're a hardcore Masshole just based on that. The Masshole is all over you wherever you go sadly....

Yeah . . . I've had a lot of opportunities but it's gonna take something pretty exceptional (i.e., comparable position at the Seattle Art Museum, maybe, is the only one I can think of) to make me leave. The weather/topography ratio here is off the charts. I like New England, and could see going back up there, but seriously, fvck winter.

My recollection of Aurora in the 70s was trailer parks east of i225 and gun fights at the Aurora Mall in the 80s.

I also remember when Highlands Ranch was a ranchand Countyline road was the edge of the earth.
It was still the same when I was there. They plowed this gnarly trailer park across the street from Toshi's workplace just before I left. The type of place that you avoid at all costs, for various reasons.

I lived off of Potomac and 6th Ave. I remember one day going to walk the dog and getting turned around by a squad of cops sweeping the neighborhood for someone.

Fun times!

Whoops, what I meant to say is this place is as flat as a pancake and evangelical, Bible thumping, preachers stand on every corner and yell at you about gays, masturbation and dirty toilet seats. And the only thing to do here is watch NASCAR and chew tobacco. But that's all I know about what the women folk here do anyways.

Crap. Yes. You're 100% right, of course. I'm just drunk. You forgot the permanent Florida-esque heat and humidity microclimate and the unusual preponderance of 29+ ebike riders. And don't discount the unrideableness of that Wilson Creek area - it's really just full of angry hikers, horseback riders, and fly fishermen.

Florida is awesome. Basically California with a lower cost of living. I hear Texas is also pretty sweet.

There is still a trailer park nestled along the east side of I-225 just north of Colfax but the area has changed a ton with the influx of medical center money. New train line along I-225, for one, and the multibillion campus itself along with the gentrification it brought to the immediate area (hotels, restaurants, etc.).

The buildings pictured are all the small ones for research, admin, etc. The main hospital, Childrens hospital, and the new VA boondoggle hospital are all at the plane of the photographer and further back.

Only when I'm drunk or stuck in traffic. Otherwise, I have (mostly) rid myself of the typical Masshole traits, at least I'd like to think so. Where I live now is a lot more similar to places in NH/VT than anywhere in or around Boston.

Though I will admit the amount of interest/wonder attached to the Boston accent/attitude throughout the US is pretty funny. I have heard some hilarious interpretations of what people think Boston is like....one girl at @Adventurous 's wedding said "is it true you could be walking down the street and someone will just yell "FUCK YOU" in your face?" Granted that doesn't never happen, but it's also not like a suitable replacement for waving.
