I'm sure this has been posted (I did search but couldn't narrow down the search). What do you do for a living and do you like it? I'm always curious becuase I have a pretty good job, but I don't care much for it. I'm a software developer for the State of Oregon and its boring...I guess thats on par with most govy jobs. I sit in my cube and dream of riding and bigger things in life.

i guess you could say im a mechanic in training at a local bike shop. i enjoy it but it has sort of lost its allure. i definitely don't want to be stuck in a shop for the rest of my life but i do want to stay in the industry. my other job is being a snowboard instructor and i really enjoy that job. its so laid back and i have so much fun doing it. i dont think i will ever make a living out of it but i wouldnt mind keeping with it for a while. its the closest i will ever come to being paid to snowboard.

i'm sick of sitting in front of a computer for +8 hours a day. the pay is good, the work is easy but I don't want to get old and look back on my life thinking about how I spent a good percentage of it in front of a computer.

at the very most I'll be doing it for another 4 years to help my GF get through dental school. If I can make it work I may only be doing it for a couple more months.

I like clocking all the metrosexuals hanging around the shop like it's some club to hang out with and stuff. I like my job only because I get to see people getting all dressed up and sassy hanging out for hours at a Starsbucks. Then there are the geeks robbing us of our electricity outlet playing Halo on their laptop making sure their screen is in the view of everybody so he looks cool. Starbucks, as well as other "bistro," is a cool sociology laboratory. It's sad. Woohoo for $6.75 per hour!

I have 9/10ths of a degree in Exercise Science, one of these days I will finish a get a grown up job.
What I ask, is does your job define who you are, or is it just what you do to pay the bills? I had this discussion with some friends the other day. For me, it is simply what I do now, between gyms and semesters (Albeit a very long semester break!). I enjoy it, but if they told me tomorrow I had to go, it wouldnt kill me.

I am a sales specialist in the flooring department at Lowe's. It is not the most glamorus job but it pays very well. People in Aspen love to spend stupid amounts of money and I make commision off them My managers are very strick about no overtime so I hit 40 hours for the week and they kick me out the door. I left a job in the ski and bk industry for this one. I do not enjoy it as much but the pay makes it very worth it.

I would like to go to law school, but the downtime and cost would kill me. I might try for my masters in engineering management in a couple of years.

I'm a product development engineer for an up and coming company that makes lacrosse and hockey equipment. It's sweet, but my pay is modest (for now) and it can be a little disfunctional sometimes, as the company and most of its employees are pretty young. I've had a stressful spring so far scrambling to get all the new product for next season done, but summer should bring a nice lull. I'm in grad school, too. Getting my master's in ME four credits at a time - hopefully I'll finish by the time I'm 30.
