Can they be peeled off, or are they, as I suspect, clear-coated?

The 2003's are clearcoated, the 2004's dont have decals.

My mate has the red flame one. The graphics are under the clear coat.

i have the black one and the graphics are under the clearcoat

they're on there for good, the clearcoat is pretty thick over them. If the graphics just peeled off I wouldn't have waited for two weeks for my local shop to get in the black version, because they only had the ghey flame job helmets.
