I suppose beets would ferment. There are sugars in them, just like pumpkin.IAB wants beet beer.
BEET beer???? Yikes... not sure I would even want to try that one! (Although I recently had oyster porter or stout, so I guess that beet beer wouldn't be too weird?)I suppose beets would ferment. There are sugars in them, just like pumpkin.
I had an oyster stout and found out (via jonKranked) that Guinness has oyster in it as well.BEET beer???? Yikes... not sure I would even want to try that one! (Although I recently had oyster porter or stout, so I guess that beet beer wouldn't be too weird?)
Forever I will now look at guinness in a new way.I had an oyster stout and found out (via jonKranked) that Guinness has oyster in it as well.
The oyster stout was delicious, and I freakin' hate oysters.
Make something totally out there... like guava or starfruit or something nuts.I haven't decided on a homebrew to make for Monkeyfest yet. I may try a brown sugar ale - I really like Lagunita's Brown Shugga'.
I'll have to try that one...not one I am familiary with. I'd sample just about any beer that someone handed to meI haven't decided on a homebrew to make for Monkeyfest yet. I may try a brown sugar ale - I really like Lagunita's Brown Shugga'.
It's not hard. It's just methodical. Part cooking, part chemistry - so there's some art to it, like cooking, but there's a lot of just careful methodical steps to take to make sure it'll come out well.Make something totally out there... like guava or starfruit or something nuts.
I really want to get into home brewing one of these days. How hard is it to do?
My homebrewer book states that if you can make mac and cheese, you can make beer. Now I don't know if I would go that far, but making beer ain't rocket science.I really want to get into home brewing one of these days. How hard is it to do?
Mac and Cheese beer?My homebrewer book states that if you can make mac and cheee, you can make beer. Now I don't know if I would go that far, but making beer ain't rocket science.
And I wonder if that would get you to drink knowing how much you love mac and cheeseMac and Cheese beer?
Now the question is... what about a mac and cheese beer? And I wonder if that would get you to drink knowing how much you love mac and cheese

OK, serious question here: Do you like milk stouts? I have never tried one. I'm actually scared to. Milk tends to destroy my insides. Not with beer.
Just in beer.
Well, there is lactose in the wort but it gets fermented, I'd say give it a shot. I like a good milk stout every now and then.OK, serious question here: Do you like milk stouts? I have never tried one. I'm actually scared to. Milk tends to destroy my insides.
This just solidifies the idea of a mac and cheese stout.Well, there is lactose in the wort but it gets fermented, I'd say give it a shot. I like a good milk stout every now and then.
I like SOME milk stouts... it depends on the brewery. As far as lactose I don't know how bad it would be b/c I don't have to worry about that.OK, serious question here: Do you like milk stouts? I have never tried one. I'm actually scared to. Milk tends to destroy my insides.
Vanilla soy milk stout.I like SOME milk stouts... it depends on the brewery. As far as lactose I don't know how bad it would be b/c I don't have to worry about that.
I've tried a couple milk stouts and really am not a fan. I am always open to having my mind changed - I'll try them when I have the opportunity. But thus far, no, I don't like milk stouts.OK, serious question here: Do you like milk stouts? I have never tried one. I'm actually scared to. Milk tends to destroy my insides.
Interesting! Are you going to tell me where I can get my hands on some of this?Vanilla soy milk stout.
I used to feel the same way. It seems a lot of brewers go overboard with the lactose to get the mouthfeel they're looking for and, since lactose isn't fermentable, end up with an overly sweet beer. We recently did a chocolate stout using oatmeal and lactose for body. The resulting sweetness really helped bring the chocolate out.I've tried a couple milk stouts and really am not a fan. Now that's a beer I would try (despite the tummy ache I would get from the lactose)I used to feel the same way. The more the merrier!!!I may be bringing a (female) guest this year. Finally found a cool chick who rides bikes.
Still need to buy a headlamp, though.
That sounds REALLY rich! I'd be able to have a taste but not a whole bowl!I just made chocolate ice cream with Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
I don't really eat chocolate - this ice cream is so freakin rich, I can't eat it
I'm sure IAB will help the cause
