Closing it manually wasn't an option according to the service adviser. I'm not sure if there's a mechanism to close it manually. But the way it failed it wasn't possible to do anything with it.

But we may be getting the car back today. A sunroof just happened to be delivered to them yesterday. They ordered it for another car that didn't end up needing it, and then forgot about it. So they're in the middle of installing it now.

I'm a big fan of sunroofs and use them all the time on my cars. I've never had a problem with them aside from someone closing the on my Land Cruiser after some sticks had fallen into the tracks. That jammed it up pretty badly, but I was able to fix it on my own.

Oh - and my brand new VW. That sunroof went t1ts up on me too.
