I'm buying a Giant Faith 2 and have heard about a shackle flip. What shackle am I flipping and what are the advantages to this? Does this do anything to the geometry or the ride?
i ran my faith for close to a year with the link stock, the geometry was better than my riding capacity. then i flipped it listening to others. it created a more sloppy feel to the rear, it gives more slack to the suspesnsion. lowers the BB a little but nothing more than an inch.
if you are going to be doing general freeride/DJ type riding, leave it be. if you are going to be doing a ton of downhill in a race format, go ahead and flip it. but know that it is only helping rear shock performance when you flip it. it really isnt changing the geometry much.
