i'm looking to buy a trailbike and my friend has a santa cruz chameleon frame with xt parts on it for sale . so i was wondering if any monkeys have owned a santa cruz chameleon or know somebody who knows somebody who has owned a chameleon bike who could give a review of it . any input would be appericated .

i believe H8R has or had one and liked it.

they handle getting the sh!t beat out of them quite well.

I had one too and it was one of my favorite bikes ever.

Funny, I am looking for a new singlespeed frame and the Chameleon is on top of my list.

Chameleons are good solid hardtails, not too expensive and pretty versatile. There have been quite a few iterations over the years - the geometry has changed as well as the dropouts and bb (some have an eccentric set up, some don't). If the geometry suits you and it fits, you can't go wrong.

That said, as with any used bike, beware of paying too much for worn out drivetrain parts.

I enjoyed mine. The stand over was a little high for a dj bike, but for trail riding it was pretty solid.
