I'm trying to set up the drivetrain on a 2009 spz tarmac and can't adjust the front derailer to shift gears properly. is this kind of setup suppoised to shift from the granny chainring to the big one with just one click on the shifter, or 2?

Any tips are more than welcome.

I don't know which shifters you have on that thing, but it is very common to have two steps on the shifter before the front mech. actually picks the chain up to the next ring.

It's to enable you to run a lot of shift combination's without the chain rubbing on the mech.

You may also have a triple shifter for a dual ring, but if it was shipped complete it should be the correct one.

The drivetrain on the bike is shimano 105. Three step shifters came stock with the bike.
I'll try and adjust it again.

That will have extra clicks on it. These intermediate steps are called trim. As mentioned above it's to eliminate chain rub while you're cross chaining.
