I know 3 people who have done that race. They said the course was relatively tame. It looks like a cool event though, but the BC Bike Race has more clout and looks way funner IMO.
I also know a number of people that have done that race and they said that it wasn't easy. While, yes, they said the course was not incredibly hard or technical it wasn't a cake walk. Lots of elevation gain. The first Race Across the Sky video was awesome IMO. I look forward to seeing this one.
Was a cool flick, but for those that saw last years, did it kinda feel like deJa Vu? I mean the chick that got hit by the car, the one with MS, the guy that didn't make the cutoff last year, the firefighter guy that's done it a billion years in a row, seems like a lot of the "special interest" stories were the same ones that they used last year. Out of 1300 people, there's gotta be a couple other inspiring stories out there to highlight.
also - last year seemed to focus on the Lance Vs. Dave battle to give it a race-feel, but this year you really didn't see a lot of Levi vs. JHK - and they didn't even highlight when Levi dropped him, or when they managed to drop the rest of the field. Was that because the moto blew up and that was the only camera they thought to put on Powerline?
I know the film took a lot of criticism last year for being too Lance-ified, and this year it seemed like they went out of their way to NOT mention Lance at all. (I bet they were a little miffed he didn't come to defend.)
I would have typed up a review that read very similar to that. After seeing the movie and that Lifetime Fitness now owns the event, it looks like it is getting sold out. The one guy said in the conversation after the movie that they are not planning on making it a 10,000 participant race, but that they want to allow a bigger cutoff. I personally thought the crowd of bikers in town at the start was more than enough participants for a single start race. That was just my observation from seeing the movie last night.
