Ok, i bought some Bontrager Race X Lite Tubeless wheels. I was going to try and mount my old tubeless tires to the rims, but another guy in the shop i work at said that Bontrager tubeless wheels use a tubeless specific rimstrip that i have to install.

Is this true?

I haven't tried to mount the tires without this special "rim strip".

Any comments/suggestions?

Here's right from Bontrager's Q&A section:

Q. What does "tubeless-compatible wheel" mean?
A. Bontrager wheels with this feature have a tubeless sealing strip installed to make the wheels compatible with tubeless tires. If you do not intend to use the wheels with tubeless tires, the strip can easily be removed to save weight. We give you the choice, learn more.
So, apparently you do need a strip, but it should be installed already.

Bontrager tubeless rims use a thick soft plastic rim strip. Make sure you have it installed and you are good to go.
