No, that's not my bike...

One of my 2 car racks' (the Sportworks shown above) pivot point is a plastic to plastic hinge, and wet it pivots fine, but dry (most of the time here in Arizona) is hard to move and makes a loud horrible noise.

What can I use to lubricate it without ruining the plastic? Graphite? Space dust? Powered Jello? Cocaine?

I'm trying to find something for you, but my memory is failing me. We spec'ed a Mobil brand lube/grease for plastic on plastic wear points when I worked at IBM but now I can't seem to remember / find which lube it was. All I can remember is that it was red.

just grease it, ball bearing grease isn't going to eat the nylon

Silicone grease should work. I think brake caliper grease and dielectric grease are also silicone based.
