I’m feeling significantly better. Mrs was in Indy with her sisters and kids for the last few days going to museums and such. She started throwing up yesterday. So that’s cool. She made it home with Isla last night. Elder child is staying with grandma. Fun times in our house.

I have no idea where I am
Starting to get nervous. Still need to order some bits and pieces like special underwear and gaiters. Probably should get all that done today so it can get here before I leave.

Quite concerned about my tent. It’s starting to show some signs of shrinkage and the fly is too high off the ground to prevent splash back in heavy rain. It also needs some new guy lines and a stuff sack. Would love to replace it with this. But I don’t have the cash right meow.

It's not often I click a link and say "Holy shit, that is expensive!" out loud, but I just did.
But it's half the weight of my swag, and a lot bigger, so the price makes sense.

Yeah Dyneema tents are stooopid expensive. While they are incredibly lightweight they don’t have a long lifespan if used for thru hiking. The material starts to shrink after a while. I just recently learned this.

Fed up with my job. Looking for something new. I've been called incompetent for not preparing an action plan for a meeting no one invited me for and then went "why aren't you here" 3h before without providing any agenda for it. Also yesterday when I asked for our acq director to do what one of her regional managers does and what's industry standard (basically an "in negotiation" content list) the response I got was "well if you don't remember your requests you should track it on your own" (No one in the industry puts this on my department but that's irrelevant. What's the problem is the passive agressive response).

I took this job because it was a growth opportunity but a herd of cats is more organized than this. It took me 4 months of asking to get a replacement for an employee that quit. Then when my subordinate wrote my boss she did something even though I kept providing her detailed rationales for the board on 3 different ocasions.

I really need a new career. Maybe it's time to stop postponing those data science courses. I will get paid less for a while but at least it's less chaotic than streaming and TV. Ffs. I'm 2 days after my holiday and I'm already willing to quit with a paycut. Yay my job.

Yeah as an obese person it was never going to be for me. I planned on doing some overnight bike trips, so I went with small and tough, think mine is Event for the outer layer and the floor has a 10000mm HH.
But I never used it, shit sleep and laziness won out. But it's a good time of year for an overnighter and my fitness is the best it's been for a little while, Hmmmm, maybe I could do an overnighter.

in a galaxy far, far away
kind of beat. went out two nights in a row to live shows.
Wednesday: Young Fathers - great live band. not really sure what musical cubbyhole to put them in (but my brain is fried atm)
Thursday: VNV Nation - dark, industrial electronic danceable (black was the predominant colorway for those in attendance)

was going to head north to Vermont and hang with Uncle @johnbryanpeters today, but work brewed up some interesting developments so that'll have to wait until Saturday. minor bummer that I don't get to goof off and eat tacos with JBP tonight, but hey "that's life"

@norbar what is your skillset? my company is 100% remote and we're hiring

I'm the Head of Programming for Television and SVOD. Basically I can analyze TV, Cinema and Streaming Data, can select content to buy or produce based of said data. I do script development for TV and Movies (in PL and ENG). Now I have more operations experience too since this company is so instructure I'm basically running point on setting up channels and streaming platforms in new countries as well as organizing changing the legislative residency for our channels. Some Business Inteligence experience but unfortunately no tool experience outside of basic PowerBI and some marketing tools that are hyper specific to Euro Markets.

I am grateful for the offer. Though I assume given my job profile is narrow AF It's hard to switch for me.

@HardtailHack I work in a small industry so shit like this won't fly. TO be a specialist with a trade skill where people have to accept my behavior would be nice even if at work I'm rather conflict free since if I want to get angry I can just call my family.(or visit RM)

Friggin salt trucks out in force this morning. :dead:

Still need to troubleshoot the (nonworking) handle mechanism on the Volkswagen, might look at the fuse tonight. Might not. Who knows.

But for the salt, I get public safety and crap, but damn what a waste of money and resources when the weather will be this tomorrow:

Here. Haley's assembly is this morning, then it's off to the vet with Layla to hopefully get her bandage removed. MIL1's birthday dinner is tonight, so kart loading and race prep happens after school. Call will be attempted with the FOX reporter at some point today to give more info about Haley's racing clarifying indoor vs. outdoor, etc.

I want a flamethrower. Not one of those pussy propane jobs, real death spewing streams of sticky napalm.

For weed control, of course.

I can’t wait to prioritize whatever new priorities I have today.
hmmmm. This could be added to my professional development goals for 2024.

Its called a terra torch and they arent cheap https://gelfiresystems.com/ignition-systems/

Adding chunks of styrofoam to gasoline will give you napalm. Allegedly.
It used to be called luma gel before Ez Fire bought them, now its called Ez Fire Powder https://terratech.net/products/fire-equipment-control/ez-fire-gel/

Styrofoam will work in a pinch but it takes a lot and it isn't very throwable with a scoop since its very soupy.

I would accept one of these but with a 3' barrell and tripod mount for longer range.

you would much rather enjoy a very pistol, those aids takes a while to fizzle up and is kind of a let down, but a very pistol is essentially a flare gun made for starting fires. The ricochets are very entertaining

another day in paradise. got some work to do then meeting my former direct report before he leaves FOREVAH to chicago. Getting antsy for outdoor riding as I lost all interest in indoor workouts. Trying to rekindle that, we'll see.
