richness. he's not getting paid by anyone. It is a media stunt to sell more product, that is it.
goto the link on the first page.. it's all there..So what is he riding then?
And don't forget Cairns Worlds in '96 where he was second or '99 at Are Worlds where he crashed within meters of the finish line that would have put him on the podium.dump, i think palmer won the big bear world cup that was in transcontinental video, so he was no slouch.
I was just talking to someone about that this earlier in the day, been tryin to scour the interwebs for a pic of that. Outta my head Seplavy. I think itd be rad to see Palm' on an Evil.where he crashed within meters of the finish line that would have put him on the podium.
Well said. Even if it is a media stunt, let it do its thing. I don't see how we could do anything but benefit from it. Marketing him has already worked, he was a huge reason I got interested in snowboarding and then DH riding. Why all the hate? It's not like he's taking up a spot on the bus and some young gun has to stay home. This so-called comeback is not a comeback at all but an opportunity to create more buzz about MTB'ing in America. It's perfect timing really. With the WC finals coming to the US next year and Palmers huge following in the snowboard/mx crowd more American eyes and potential sponsors will be on DH/4x racing in the US. Isn't that a good thing for privateers, resorts and future racers. His age is another way to create interest in racing in an age demographic that actually has money to spend on bikes and at area resorts which will in turn make promoting races more financially beneficial for resorts and in the long run less expensive for privateers and sponsored riders. This is just another step forward in the evolution of mountain biking. Don't hate. Remember when you used to love to ride your bike. Before it became an online cock-measuring contest Palmer was slinging dirt, drinking beers, and having fun. A message to you racers going to Windham this weekend - Remember fun and encourage your neighbor to rip it up!

The Escalade ESV is pretty freakin close.I didn't know Cadillac made buses
Really good article relating to that pic in the latest dirt mag.And don't forget.......or '99 at Are Worlds where he crashed within meters of the finish line that would have put him on the podium.

Ya, the man above can help if he wants to. Im praying for Palm. I believe in God. I hope Palm does good. He might need a little help from above.Kanter...you are the funniest guy on here...
First you say you are 'praying' for Palm(wtf? a man in the sky can keep us away from booze and keep us upright on our bikes?), then say he is getting 'paid to train'.
Awesome.
not broke and bike companies have no part in his current finances.Ya, the man above can help if he wants to. Im praying for Palm. I believe in God. I hope Palm does good. He might need a little help from above.
Explain to me how Palm can afford to train for a month at WC. The last I heard he was broke. Someone has his back and is paying SOME of the bills. You think he is paying for all of it out of his own pocket?
When does Palmer do anything that IS NOT exciting to watch? I guarantee it will be more exciting than watching washed up e-speculators speculate.Wow he can ride through whoops fast. AMAZING.
Am I the only one that isn't excited to see a 40 year old ex pro try and rail it down the course at nationals?
There are many others that will be at that race that be more exciting to watch.
Oh abstract supreme being. Please help aging DH racer go fasterYa, the man above can help if he wants to. Im praying for Palm. I believe in God. I hope Palm does good. He might need a little help from above.
I'm building up a 951 for Darryn Henderson who used to race on diamonback well back in the day. He's still got quite a bit of pace in him still.
someone needs to create a Legends of DH race. Get God, sorry Tomac, nico, Gachet, and all the others in it

A month at a ski hill still costs money. You dont think TLD is helping him out? They make the anouncement but they have no part... You cant tell me he is get absolutley NO help what so ever. I dont believe it. Im not sure why you have to be such a smart ass about this. This is a discusssion not an arguement.not broke and bike companies have no part in his current finances.
He's doing some bike DH runs, on a ski hill, in colorado....he didn't buy a jet to enter the redbull air race series...jeez
he was at solvista for 1.5 days and was testing 2 different bikes that HE chose to ride.A month at a ski hill still costs money.
I'm pretty sure Gwin is the best we have to offer.Bring on the NaPalm!!!
U.S. racing really need him,and I suspect I'm not the only one thinking that if he get race fit,he sure as hell can kick @$$...
Palmer,Tomac,Overend...is it just me,or are they STILL the best U.S.A. have to offer??
'They make the announcement'A month at a ski hill still costs money. You dont think TLD is helping him out? They make the anouncement but they have no part... Get pics of Hindy on the 951!I think it's rad that Palmer is coming back. And for fun as well.
It seems as if quite a few Old skoolers are coming back out and about, what with Myles rockwell, Jurgen Beneke who pops out every now and then. I'm building up a 951 for Darryn Henderson who used to race on diamonback well back in the day. He's still got quite a bit of pace in him still.

No where did I say he was getting a truck load of money. Im just betting someone is paying some of his bills; hotel room, food, etc. Thanks for all the info. Im still wondering why you have to be such a smart ass and make such crude remarks.'They make the announcement'
are you that gullible?
Mike Redding (TLD MTB sponsorship coordinator) and Palm are friends, Mike gets very excited when Palm gets on a bike, they have a new Palmer D2, Redding sends a quick note to Rosey at DIRT...it's all simple, takes moments, there is no big money conspiracy. Palmer really likes riding moto and mountain bikes. I guess it is cool you think the bike business has the money to be promoting an old ex racer though, proof marketing works I guess.
I do know that Jesus fairies put stacks of $20's under Palms pillow at night so he can eat up at solvista, I hear it gets pricey.
Because jesus lets him.No where did I say he was getting a truck load of money. Im just betting someone is paying some of his bills; hotel room, food, etc. Thanks for all the info. Im still wondering why you have to be such a smart ass and make such crude remarks.
that reminds me...blah blah blah does this look familiar???
Australia, australia!!!!, In NZ we know how to trim our eyebrows thank you very much!!!!! Hendy retired from Dh, raced Pro XC in NZ, then went back to Motocross (for yamaha I think) and did a bit of that in aussie, and blew his ankles into lil peices, then toook up V8 supercars in NZ, and then Porsche racing. He's just signed to drive a ford in the NZ v8s for the next season (I'm Not happy that he's ditched holden tho, maybe I'l sneak a holden sticker on his bike).Darryn Henderson is such a super nice guy. He represented DB before Cully and then they used him full time after Cully's heart issue for a year. He's got to be in his mid forties. That guy is a true legend.
I thought he was from Australia, but from your location I guess it's New Zealand?? It's all down under to me
We care Stik, we care. Although this maybe cos we are holding onto the past.Get pics of Hindy on the 951!
He was a bad man!
There was a legends race brewing in the head of Dave Nicholas, he used to put on the hawaiian mountain tours years ago. He called me up this winter to shoot the sh1t and wanted to get something like this happening...we spoke about a venue he had interest in but it all fell apart before we got any chatter going about it. Some day.
Problem is, very very few people give a sh1t about the legends of MTBing.
Quoted for truth, accuracy, and the American way. Before it became an online cock-measuring contest Palmer was slinging dirt, drinking beers, and having fun.
