My first thought as well- looks sharp! I recall making the suggestion years ago and was met with some fanboi rage!Hooray, no M-arch!
Why??god id wish marz would stop chrome coating their stanchion tubes..
Although I am more partial to function versus fashion, I don't particularly like the chrome toobs eitherWhy??
multiple reasons:Why??
Uh, it's pretty well documented that Ni coating (which it is, not chrome) is a lot harder than anno-ed aluminum. Plus Saying "everyone else does blah" when they are all inferior to Zoke in that respect is not doing much to help your cause. You can hate on zoke for a lot of things, but the smoothness of their forks is not one of them. Although truth be told that's more related to their high bushing tolerance and seals and not the stanchion coating, but whatever.multiple reasons:
-while i dont have concrete evidence that the performance is not as good as hard ano coating, ive noticed that lower end forks use chrome stanchion tubes.. so, im assuming that chrome isnt as good of a choice as hard ano.. with everyone else's DH forks being some form of hard ano i just dont understand why marz (or anyone for that matter) does chrome still..
-i absolutely hate the look of chrome.
-chroming these adds more weight than hard ano would.
-from what i understand, chroming things isnt the greatest for the environment
-did i mention i hate the look of chrome?
my fork is also going to cost me more than what i paid for my frame.. so since its the most expensive part on my bike (same as well on my DJ), i want something that i really like.
It's mostly the weight comments that make me mad. Anyone worried about grams here and there don't deserve to be riding DH bikes.Get mad Dan

Nice didn't know it came with a 1 1/8 steerer. If I upgrade to these I was just gonna try swapping out my old tripple 888 and just use the old DC clamp.

Do not like the tapered headtube, though.
Edit:Comes also with straight steerer.
Options include both tapered and straightIt's mostly the weight comments that make me mad. Anyone worried about grams here and there don't deserve to be riding DH bikes.
Edit: Whoa, just realized that steerer is tapered. I dislike that as well. Too trendy.

Competition is a good thing. Prob will pick up a new fork towards the end of the riding season...
that too. its a good year for new forkz. And Bos Idylle RaRe.
i discount the BOS, because 1)they're difficult to impossible to get in the states and 2)zero factory support at the races or difficult warranty/service requests. And Bos Idylle RaRe.
I theorized that had more to do with the switch to hodaka than it did with abandoning blacksploitation. Also kashing in on a certain popular coating available from another manufacturer. They switched out the black for a gold coating this year.
I've got a set of Ni coated stanchions on my spare fork with somehwere between 1 and 2 million vertical feet on it. Not a single flake, not a single deep gouge.they dont last for ****.
Ill sell you a BOS coil and itl be very easyi discount the BOS, because 1)they're difficult to impossible to get in the states and 2)zero factory support at the races or difficult warranty/service requests.
Still an option but? and we're not all in Americai discount the BOS, because 1)they're difficult to impossible to get in the states and 2)zero factory support at the races or difficult warranty/service requests.
