shimano tiagra. it's a road derailer cost $27. has an extra short cage. that's what i run. shifts great.

i think that the shimano tiagra mite work but i dont know about the road part for the dirt jumping he does.

Road derailleurs work the same as MTB derailleurs, they just have shorter cages. A lot of pro DHers use road derailleurs and cassettes.

road derailleurs work fine, you dont need a long or medium cage derailler if you are only running 1 ring up front. Road deraillers are more out of the way, let you run less chain, and are just as durable as mtn deraillers.

All these things are true. They tend to be shiny too, which is good or bad dependant on how punk you are.

I suppose you could spray paint it black...Just take the jockey wheels out first.:D

road deraillurs are good if ur running tight gears. otherwise...i would say an xt short or midcage. mid is good for most gear ranges.
