Dunno if this was posted here already, but ( http://www.pinkbike.com/news/X-Fusion-Revel-hlr-First-Look.html ) the new Revel x-fusion fork is using keyed upper slider section to prevent rotation and therefore greatly increase overall fork torsional rigidity.

I still think USD forks have other issues, but it is interesting to think about ways to enable a light DH fork that is rigid in all directions.

Kinda like cannondale's square stanchions on that old hella hella freeride moto fork. I almost think that would be less prone to friction.

The best thing about upside down forks is the seals and bushings are lubed everytime the fork moves

Didn't the old Cannondale moto forks use needle bearing strips like the Lefty?? My Lefty fork was the smoothest feeling fork I've ever owned and plenty stiff. I always wished they came out with a longer travel model.

from just this one pic, it looks like the legs are oval but the stanchions are still round. how does that help anything?

I'm not sure I understand how they did this keying business. If it's as simple as I think, wouldn't it introduce some binding? How is lubed? I need to see schematicz.

Also, tread mill fail was excellent.
