My brand new 2004 Marzocchi Z1 Freeride wasn't getting full travel, so i decided to take it apart and check the oil levels. Everything was going fine until it came time to put the top caps back in. The rebound side screwed in perfectly. The ETA side got about a half turn and then stopped. I backed it off, lined everything back up and gave it another go, still no luck. I tried jiggling the fork, tapping with a rubber mallet, greasing the threads, and nothing would line the threads back up. I gave up on it and dropped it off at my LBS this morning. The mechanic just called, he can't get them started either. I told him to call Marzocchi and see what they say.

So has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? I am really at a loss. It looked to me like the top cap is connected to the internals. That is alot of hardware to replace over some goofed threads.
