Guys, Gals,

I can run the wheel all the way forward if using gears on this type of set up correct?

I know I couldn't do that in SS mode as I needed room to move the wheel forward to slacken the chain for wheel removal, but with gears I should be fine running all the way forward right!?

That's fine. The derailleur will pick up the slack and the short stays will give the best handling.

If you're not running chain tensioners or a bolt-on hub, running the wheel all the way in will likely be the best setup because it will help keep the wheel from moving. If you are running a quick release set up, I'd highly recommend running some sort of horizontal tensioner to keep your wheel aligned under hard braking. It will save you many headaches.

you can also drop the chain off the chainrings up front. especially if they are large, that will give you lots of slack.
