on this website, a formula is mentioned: about quarterpipe height and arc radius (2nd image)
Drawing the Arc
is it valid? or is it everything goes?

if there is a formula - or just a guide line - how long should the deck be in relation to the height and radius?

thanks

what he has there is not wrong, and there are a lot of good details... but i can't think of any reason why this part is supposed to be true:

"STARTING AT 5 FEET, USE AN 8 FOOT RADIUS AND ADD 3 INCHES FOR EVERY FOOT OF HEIGHT: "

it is true that 5 foot tall 8 foot radius is a good combination for a mini-half (or box jump launch). but there's no reason why you can't have 6 foot tall 9 foot radius--a lot of bmx and mtb ramps do that. i'm guessing it's because he's talking about a skateboarding half pipe. those guys aren't trying to launch out of it. rather, as it gets taller, it gets more vert. as 12 foot tall, 9'9" radius means 2'3" of pure vert.
