Downhill Season at Timberline Resort opened this weekend! The chair lift is running every Saturday and Sunday. We all know JR is always working hard to make sure the trails are in great shape....Share your stories and pictures!
I had a chance to ride Timberline DH trails last weekend. There's great terrain with plenty of vertical. The trails can be a bit confusing at first but follow the Red, Orange, Yellow, & White tags & you'll be fine. Even better hook up with JR or his son in the bike shop & he'll show you the goods. I especially liked the Red trail with the twisted sister steep burmed turns. The orange line off of the red was great also. The lower section has lots of line choices. The yellow has a nice steep rooty line. Well worth the trip. If you get a late start out no worries as they will give you a half day rate. I'll have to go back as I did not get a chance to try Mellow Yellow(Narnia) according to Downhill Dave K. and I hear it's a must ride n see.
The word is that JR is considering one more weekend of lifted DH at Timberline this season. He's saying he'll make up his mind and post by Thursday eve.
If anyone would like to sway his decision & make the trip post here or call the bike shop at Timberline. "Last chance" in 2010
We hit Timberline over Halloween weekend and the trails were nice and tacky. JR was accommodating as always. We hit most of the trails, but kept coming back to the red-white-orange run as it offered a good mix of everything in one down. We were the only ones on the hill all day(we rode from open to close). While it was kinda fun to have our own "private" resort, would still love to see people give this place a try. In our last 2 trips there, we saw a total of 1 other rider....
A steady customer base could only make it better and it's well worth the trip now.
Thanks again to JR and his trail crew for a great dh spot.
i rode timberline yesterday and it was maybe the funnest park ive been to in the area. jr and a couple other locals were awesome to us. the trails there are true dh trails with some pretty steep stuff. gnarnia is the coolest trail ever. way to go guys for making use of the awesome natural terrain and features there. if you want to go ride some super sweet dh on some terrain like no other in the area check this place out! give those other parks a rest and hit up some stuff thats truly awesome. these guys have a great place and the more people that go there the better

$35 race fees include a two day lift ticket and LODGING!
Camping on site
Hotel and high end lodging available (working on discount rates)
Saturday SuperD race and DH practice, Sunday DH race
Second annual Big Kahuna Bike title on the line using combined times of SuperD and DH (on same bike).
There are two race starts and one paper race which is a combined. So you can race DH and SuperD on two different bikes, like your DH and All mtn.. IF you choose to go for the combined "BIG KAHUNA"" then you must race on one rig for both races.
DH
SuperD
Combined- Big Kahuna
The combined event, called the "Big Kahuna" must be run on the same bike for both the DH and SuperD.
You can opt out of the combined and run two different bikes; one for the DH and one for the SuperD
Two starts, three results.
1. DH
2. SuperD
3. Big Kahuna
The last half mile of our SuperD course traverses private property. This week the tract was worked by machinery to prepare for development. A reroute is needed to complete the SuperD course. To produce a track (within the ten days remaining) that matches the quality of the original course would require an entirely new route. Timberline will put only the best courses up for our riders and will not compromise our product to meet a deadline. In order to run the Oct 8,9 SuperD a compromise would have to be made. This is not what we are here to do, consequently the SuperD is canceled.
DH race cancellation announcement
Our timing equipment provider and the personnel to operate it are no longer able to meet their obligations. In keeping with the culture of not running any aspect of our Bike Park in a less than professional manner . . . The DH is also canceled.
Our decision to not run this event protects our riders and insures that we meet or exceed the expectations of anyone who comes to Timberline to ride or compete.
We are sorry for any trouble this may cause to our riders or racers.
Timberline lifts and trails will be in full operation now and untill seasons end in November.
Look for the Timberline Festival of DH Good Times on the Oct 15 and 16
