Derailer Question

Hey guys, looking over the bike after this weekends N* expedition and noticed I've got a few nice gafs on the rear derailer cage. I think I'm lucky it didn't get yanked off! Anyway, I'm running a long cage XT and am wondering what's the best short cage Shimano derailer I can use for a 22-32 set up? BTW, I'm using the "normal" XT shifters. Looks like the road derailers are nice and short.....the Ultegra 6500-SS looks like it might be a good choice.

I ran Ultegra and 105 derailleurs for a long time with no problems...either one should work well for you....D

I used to have a short cage XT, it was like roadie short. Never been able to find another. Pity it was good till I wrecked up in a rock garden.

Now just plain old mid length XTR.

If your bike's main pivot is a long way from your BB just remeber to allow a bit more chain when going short cage, especially with 32/34t.

I only made this mistake once, got half way through trvel and ripped mech all way forward, right thru the stop. Ooops
