I tried to sell my bike on mtbr. One guy said he was ok with the price and would give me an extra $200 for my "inconvenience". He also said he would send me a cashier's check for $4850 for a $1000 bike. I was supposed to wire the remaining money ($3850) to some shipping agent. $3850 seems a little high for shipping, ha, even if it is an international sale. End of story, the cashier's check showed up today, i took it to the police, sure enough it was fake.
So just keep this in mind when selling bikes online.
