Looking for a good urban pannier that has lots of pockets and compartments...All I can find are big open bucket style bags.

Any suggestions?

Also googling like a fiend ;).

Gracias!

Hmm - I think I found what I'm looking for : http://www.rei.com/product/710404

....
Be warned, those panniers are kind of weak. Definitely not my choice if you have anything that can be easily damaged by the wet or is overly heavy. Fairly thin fabric and a less than burly zipper would keep me from using that as a daily commuter item. Plus they aren't very large, most of the storage capacity is in the bucket...making the system top heavy.

Highly suggest:

(extra cool as it has a built in strap for easy transport into work or grocery store)
add one of these for extra pockets and easier storage of clothing

Not sure about this company, but it might suit your needs and appears to be a pair for $85.

also nice from them

Ito assuredly knows this stuff better than I do, but I just got a set of Axiom Cartier panniers that have been doing well (http://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/ACBAGPANN/BG6629)

The fabric is extremely sturdy and is pretty waterproof, it has a nice backing and comes with spare mounting hardware and shoulder straps. It may not have enough pockets for you (one main, one side and elastic on top- other Axiom models are similar), but I think it's hard to beat for the price.
