Atomic Trailpimps/Hub Question

Does anyone know how many engagement points are in the Atomlab Aircorp rear hub? I am running a 26" Mavic 521/Shimano XT wheelset and was thinking about picking up a 24" Atomic Trailpimp wheelset. I'm interested in using it mostly for urban riding, but want more engagement points for trials style moves. Also, does anyone have a guess at the weight comparison with my current wheelset (lighter would be nice too)? And how would 24" work for that kind of riding?

Atomlabs stuff is amazing - they charge SO much, and it's SO crappy. I wish I could get away with the crap they get away with.

edit - btw, the 24" rear is pretty cool for street riding, I almost never take the 24 off the back of my hardtail. It's a little stronger too.

No worries I got bored one time and started searching for the info. some of it was prefound but newer hubs aren't on there. Best of luck

Also the new XT and xTR have more from what I have heard, but I don't have any numbers on that.

yeah, they call it the 108 point trials upgrade. Its just a new freehub body, so it still has the hadley strength for downhill. I have one coming in the mail.

I never noticed that. I would say 18 as the second list is an official list I found on a trials website. The top one I did just by running to every forum and asking around.

Atomlab also packs their freehub with sticky grease so the pawls don't engage every time. After a while the teeth get rounded off and the hub is shot.

It takes more than printing "Tough as Hell!" on something to make it so.

The OLD Hugi's (like the 98 I have) use 36 points. Very sweet hub. The new ones, starting with I believe the 240 and Onyx and including the FR hubs, all have 18. Still nice, but kinda slow.

I'm pretty sure the ONYX from DTSWISS is a 2pawl 18pt engagement hub. The 240 and FR, as well as older DTSWISS stuff uses the star ratchet system with 2 star rachets each with 18pts of engagement. Does that mean that it has 36pt engagement?

At any rate, the ONYX freehub system is a notch below the 240, older "hayes" stuff, adn hugi FR hubs.

I just counted out the clicks on a FR hub a couple nights ago and it had 18 clicks. Noticeably slower engagement (obviously) than on my Hugi 98 or Abba hubs (36 points).
