Well, look on the bright side, we got to enjoy all of the crazy stuff thats been up over the last few years. Spomers one of the most gifted journalists and photographers that I have ever seen do his thing. He's my friend, and if he has found new direction that makes him happy, I think thats rad no matter what.

Cheers to you Spome-Dizzy-Dizzawg!

I was secretly hoping that a major magazine would make you their editor. That would be nasty!

I must have missed something.
All it said was that he is not going to post anymore stuff on his website.
It didn't mention anything about him leaving the sport, quitting riding, or quitting snapping those sick shots of his. He basically just said he would rather surf than type. Hell, I can't much blame him.

Nevermind. I just read all the replies before I read his site and it sounded like he was making an annoucement like he was leaving the sport or something,
which of course would be truly sad.
But he just said that he wanted to ride his bike and surf instead of typing words about it. In other words, I am sitting at work, and he is surfing,
so the only thing sad is me. :p

Is it just me or is everyone bailing like rats in a flood. The past few months have been very sad to see. So many people have seen the light this off season and are now seeking new ways to spend their time. Very sad indeed.

Damn Spomes... Sorry to hear about it. We will all miss the site.
I hope that your new endevors bring you joy and a sense of fulfillment.
Oh, and stick it to those dirty crooks.

One last thing...Any chance I can buy a shot off of you?
You took this nice one of me at SandHill that I'd hate to see "disapear".

Thanks for the update. That is very sad news for the industry, but it might be a really good thing for you. You said yourself that you were getting to ride more, and that is always a great thing.
Good luck, and I have a strong feeling you will still show up at races to take a shot or two. :)

You are always welcome to have your own gallery here. I would have told you that before but you have the armor plated account - no PMs and no email!

This is very sad. :( It's too bad to see such a good photographer getting out of the biz, or atleast not being in fulltime anymore. Good luck Spomer and hopefully this will be a positive change for you like you're expecting. :)

LOL! He'll have to dye his furry chest too. Or wax it. "Little on the board, little on the chest, *rip* OUCH! Little on the board, little on the chest, *rip* OUCH!...."

I'm gonna really miss your work, but you're way too talented to be doing this for free.

May you be richly compensated from here on out, in whatever you end up doing.

Thanks for the smok'n pix and sense of humor!

tmx, you're dead to me...fuzzy chest wig...pffft, LOL.

i'm not trying to sound like some martyr or anything...it was my decision all along and i knew what i was getting into. i wanted to be out there more than make a living. now my heart/mind is ready for a change and i know others will follow and do the same thing i did...it's nothing new, by any means.

some people/companies definitely respect the work it takes to get good images, and therefore they paid appropriately and on time. very many didn't (in my opinion).

again, i'm not a saleman (so i don't aggressively sell my crap), and i'd rather just take the hit and not get paid than have the hassle of being a collections agency...those 2 things made it not fun, that's all. some people, who do make great photos also have the business desire to make it pay off. they make relatively good wages or are creative enough to find other ways to make ends meet and my hats off to those people...i'm stoked for 'em. i just want (and always do) an all-or-nothing approach to it for the most part which is most often, non-realistic in terms of making ends meet.

it's just not my can of worms, ya know? i'm not trying to spray that the industry is 100% lame. i'm still going to watch and support racing, no matter what.

spomer is a hack. Im glad there is one less thing he is putting out. His video sucked and his photos look like they are shot with a kodak throw-away. That guy is a joker.

Spomer, I usually don't reply to threads like this but I feel the need to with this one.

I will miss your fine work and the smiles I get from viewing it. Littermag and clappin your dome where some of my favorite entertainment ever in MTBing.

I wish you the best of luck in your future endevors. You will be truely missed.

Spomer, MAN, I gotta say I am sad to see you go, your pix and videos and comentary have been quite an inspiration for me. Are you going to start a personal site of your photos? Or are you going to maintain a gallery so we can still look in awe?
