Hi all, I'm planning on doing the Southern Oregon Outlaw CX this October-November. Its gonna be my first CX. I'm gonna use my full rigid C'dale M800.
I don't think my 2.1 panaracer smokes are too ideal for a cx race. Can anyone recommend a good skinny tire, I was thinking Fire xc pros in 1.8.
Is there anything skinnier with a tread? My rims are 17mm inside width so i can get pretty skinny I'd assume.

I think the Maxxis Larsen TT 1.9 would be pretty good. It's really skinny for a 1.9 and rolls way faster than a Fire XC. If you could find some Conti Cross Countries in a 1.5, that'd be cool too, but I don't know if they make them anymore.

hutchinson makes their Cross Comp in 26X 2.3 (35mm for the metrically inclined) pretty much the only real cross tire made for mtb wheels. just be careful of side knob flex on pavement...

Other good 26" cross tires would be Conti Double Fighters and the Michelin semi-slicks. Pretty much, any semi-slick should work well as the idea is to run up the climbs and barriers... traction shouldn't be as important.

Agreed- I would run a Michelin Jet if I had a choice. it's a pretty popular CX pattern. Speed over traction
