The crazies will be crazy.

If only those asshats would burn their face on some poutine, the world would be a better place.

That's a lot of shots to take down one guy.
Must be where NYC cops go to retire.

Shooter was stopped by Parliamentary Sergeant at Arms - Kevin Vickers.
Guess we found the elusive "Good guy with a gun".

Well done sir.

yeah....the GGWAG.....who is paid to be there...with a gun...as it's his job...

While he did good yesterday......he definitely has some 'splainin' to do....as he's responsible for for security there.

If he was 'merican he would have been doing his job and shooting un-armed minorities.

He should have used what ever the fuck this thing is supposed to be instead. Looks like some kind of weapon from Final Fantasy.
That is a ceremonial mace and as such can definitely be used to belt ne-er do wells over the head. In fact that's its intended purpose.

He actually has a gun by means of a concealed carry permit, as he is a civilian and not an armed guard. Having a firearm is NOT his job. Canada issues CCW permits to very select individuals with a little over a thousand permits issued, and Vickers, given his social status, has a permit. The average citizen cannot obtain a permit, let along get a forum to apply for one. This is something on the table for change as trappers and people working in the oil fields up north could benefit from a carry permit (several have been mauled by wolves or bears this year).

Nathan Cirillo, who I've met before, wasn't given his right to protect himself. I can guarantee changes from DND will come through for guards.

Saddest thing: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/10...6037358.html?1

The shooter, was from Quebec. Poutine didn't save him. He was known to police, had a record, had his passport revoked, and was banned from owning or procuring a firearm. He got this one illegally, clearly.

This is the 2nd dead soldier in 3 days by way of 'radicalized' young adults.

We also had a mass shooting earlier this year. Canada hasn't been immune to psychotic behavior. See polytech.

I cannot comment on the concealed weapon bit. But according the the RCMP press conference yesterday he had not NOT had his passport revoked. He had applied for one and the approval was pending. He had a criminal record. But he was not on the "watchlist" of the 90 or so people.

It seems there's some confusion, the RCMP is good at this. They stated, earlier, that it had been revoked. Now it was that he was applying for it, but the feds were doing further investigation as there were 'red flags'. The FBI was aware of him, and he was known to police here. He wasn't on the 'high risk watch list' but he was indeed on the radar of both federal forces, US and Canada, as he had a relationship with someone on that list. He was banned from owning any sort of firearm, as is custom here when one commits a felony.

"Zehaf-Bibeau was applying for a passport -- an application that was under investigation -- at the time of the attack, but had not had his passport revoked, as has been previously reported, Paulson said."

CCP's are part of our firearms act, but only given in very distinct circumstances. The few who do have allowance are typically judges, lawyers, and politicians. If you're a single mom who's been attacked and brutalized, forget about it, you're not important enough. Edit: I was waaaay off on the amount, it being over 8000 have ATC permits.
