I feel good about making better choices. I don't need a swarm of morons behind me agreeing with my stupidity to feel good.
Most of my green decisions lead to better choices anyway, as with any thought if you put in more effort.
I'd rather sleep at night because I like me, rather than a bunch of f*ckwits that would climb over me to get ahead.
Yep, left the door open for a cheap shot, but that's the point.

I never understood the logic of having quite so many nukes, like sure, have yourself a few thousand so you could really **** **** up, but 45,000? I cant even think of 45,000 places to nuke!

We are only borrowing this planet from our future generations. The problem in America is most people think that the mindset of moar and moar is endless. It is really easy to shift blame to others and enjoy the selfishness. It is hard work to face the music that we are quickly destroying the Earth

the freedom to get scanned with body scanners on airports?
the freedom to get your laptop data copied at airports?
the freedom to have dozens of intelligence services to spy on their own people?
the freedom to have people interrogated without any rights in foreign places?
the freedom to capture foreign poeple in foreign countries to take them to the places mentioned above?
the freedom not to allow gay marriages?

freedom in the states is not for everyone, im grateful to live in europe, thank you very much... :thumb:

you're right. its a military/government conspiracy looking to bring anyone other than the white american down.
no one has said that body scans or scent scanners are foolproof, but call me crazy, id rather have something that might detect a bomb scanning people, rather than nothing scanning

    Screw airports, I don't fly.
Your laptop can get hacked right at starbucks, what would the airport matter at that point?
To think that every other Gov't around the world doesn't spy on their own people is damn Naive. No, really..
We can't really contol the rights of people in other countries. Around here we have probable cause, a phonecall, & BK.
If some clown in another country wishes harm on the u.s.a. , you can damn sure bet we will go after them no matter where they are in the world. (Note my other post declaring the fact that we do in fact own the world, so we can do that).
I could really care less about the gays, or anyone elses' "marriage" rights. Marriage is not a right..

Oh, & WE WON THE WAR...

Ever heard of the right to bear arms? Without this right, all others are meaningless. So if you do not have this right in the shathole that you live in, you have nothing.

If being allowed to bear a gun is benchmark of your personal freedom and rights or being allowed to get drunk on street if the bottle is carefully hidden in brown paperbag or newspapers, then I hope there aren't more like you in you country.

And which war do you mean? Sorry, which attack? You have been in several since WW2 but none of them seemed that you should have won it :). Oh yes, you successfully use the oldest and till today most efficient way of ruling, invented by Romans. I doubt you have a glue which one it is.
Well, let's see in 10 years who owns the world when Chinese guys will force you to work for them for salary they used to work for for you.

(Note my other post declaring the fact that we do in fact own the world, so we can do that).
Man, in fact, you don't even own your home country. Better pull your head out of the sand and have eyes wide open.

Oh boy, please don't play the "freedom to speak" card again... In most other countries you have more freedom to say whatever you want to say without being called "communist", "terrorist" or some other "bad words" (as considered in the US). By the way, I think some of the guys posting comments here should take a trip to Wikipedia (at least) and try to find for themselves what socialism and communism are about. You'd be stoked for what you'd find out on the subject...

BTW, it was the top notch of US's business pyramid the one who encouraged and financed some of the bloodiest dictatorships here at the south cone of our continent. The same ones you people take as an example to contrast against your militarized, almost fascist system. All because they thought the profit they were getting of their business here was too little, or maybe because they thought they could make more money out of them.

I agree with you about the power imbalance in the world, and how some take advantage of it. But you should face a simple fact against this "war on errorism": if some day in the future those a**holes in the middle east decide to focus on education for their countries instead of keep on buying AK-47s and rockets, and your country decides to bring all the boys (and girls) back home, the impact on your economy would be apocalyptical. You'll end up with sky high unemployment, because today most of the nation's budget goes to the military, and all the contractors, companies and people working to provide the logistics to make that war happen.

I'm talking about 30000+ people here in Argentina, tortured and murdered, with the knowledge learned at the School of the Americas, a US Military institution/program, designed to educate the military portion of each country to "eliminate the communist menace". More than 50k suffered the same destiny in Chile, 100k in Brazil...

Augusto Pinochet Ugarte was financed by the US Embassy when he and his party decided to "remove" Salvador Allende from the government in Chile back in the 60s. It all started there. In 1976 Argentina (my country) took the same path, with the vein of your Foreign Affairs secretary, Henry Kissinger. For us it ended in 1983. Do the math, over 30,000 people killed in 7 years...

Now, that does not mean we will start bombing USA or the UK. I personally don't approve any kind of violent answer. That would be like trying to stop the cannibals by eating them.

Ok, so someone comes on to Ridemonkey, and posts an innocent question, carrying with it the underlying suggestion that maybe we, as mountain bikers, should be more aware of the environmental effects of the products we ride.

Eight pages later, and we are now locked in a heated, emotional pissing match over who's fault everything is, who's country is the best, who's country fcuked up most, and who can use the most big words to make sweeping generalizations.

Taking a step back, I see this as a big part of the whole problem (I'll try my hand at the whole generalization thing). You start out with someone suggesting that we take responsibility for some of the byproducts of the sport we all love. You end up with everyone pointing fingers. Now I'm not trying deride down who has posted previously, because I think blame is natural response to broad, overarching problems, and there are very few of us who wouldn't retort when someone puts down our country. I'm certainly no better. But wouldn't it be nice if that natural response to the first post was "Hmm that's a good point, maybe I'll do some research before I buy my next bike" or even "I'm ok with not knowing where the aluminum in my next frame came from so long as its cheap", just so long as it isn't "Well if the goddamn fat Americans would stop driving their SUVs and the pinko commi Russians hadn't built so many nukes, and those halfwit engineers off in bumblefcuk Hungry would've built a better dam, then I wouldn't have to think about this in the first place"

I apologize if that got a little preachy. Just my .02.
