A redesign of the course and a new format put some of the world’s best mountain bikers through the paces today at the Giant Slalom, presented by Giant Bicycles. Thomas Slavik had the fastest combined time of 1:20.25 in the Pro Men’s category while Jill Kintner took first place in the Pro Women’s category and pretty much solidified her chance at becoming this year’s Queen of Crankworx.

Wind was at play, but didn't factor into the competition as rider's kept themselves low over the jumps.

The new course featured a flowing, yet technical ride that tested the high speed skills of each rider. Tight rhythm sections at the top, high-speed berms and a full complement of jumps kept things interesting for the athletes.

Brendan pedalling? Using the DH bike on the slalom course meant Brendog had to put the hammer down.

Thomas Slavic (CZE), took first place with a time of 1:20.25; Johannes Fischbach (GER), took second place with a time of 1:20.76; Blake Carney (USA), took third place with a time of 1:20.85.

Two guesses as to who this is...

Danny Hart came second in the GS last year, but couldn't make it happen twice in a row.

Lopes charging, as usual.

In the Pro Women’s category, Jill Kintner (USA, pictured), took first place with a time of 1:27.40; Melissa Buhl (USA), took second place with a time of 1:30.68; Danielle Beecroft (AUS), took third place with a time of 1:32.42. Jill was also named Queen of Kokanee Crankworx by having also won the Slalom and Pump track events and coming second in the Jeep Air DH. Mitch Ropelato was named King of Kokanee Crankworx.

The legendary Fitzsimmons lift was practically snapping off its lines with the amount of riders in the park.

Ladies first.

Today's most photogenic rider was apparently Faiclough. Then again, when is that not the case.

The Giant Factory team all rode in their sponsor's title event.

Danny Hart=Scrubmaster.

The kid's always seem to show up for these events. Troy's time wasn't quite good enough for a podium, but he definitely turned some heads.

Since the Criterium Lopes' luck seems to have run out, but the speed's still there.

Slavik heads in for the win.

Great race from the KTM rider, congratulations Tomas!

The gravity racing is done for Kokanee Crankworx 2011. Next up, slopestyle!
