So the back wheel on my 20 has a few dents in it. I was wondering if it would be possible to remove the hub with the spokes still attached to it, and just lace another rim to the hub and spokes. I have no wheel building experience but I can tune a wheel so I figured this might be an easier way.

yea, just make sure the new rim has close to the same ERD.

the trick to do it quick: put the new rim next to the existing one, may sure your valve stem holes are lined up, the offset of the spoke eyelets matches, then tape the rims together. then just unless the spokes nipples from the old rim and thread them into the new one.

jon has it right. Taping the rims together and swapping the spokes over reduces the chances to screw up the lacing to nearly zero.
