Megan calls me a babe.
Hello there fellow Monkey users, i was for 3 days in bikeparks in Germany.
That's about 320 km 's from me to there. It totally kicked ass. And i was very happy to be there. Together, with 4 friends who where new to me, actually one of them i already knew for some time. And made the appointment with him, to go for this ride in the bikepark in Willingen, and in Winterberg, where i have been on my own, and met some other people i knew, who where surprised to see me there. before i hit the bikepark in Willingen.

But enough chitchat here are the actionpics Roel took from me on the freeridestrecke= track.

And some cornering action... could have been higher, but then i would have hit the camera man who was in the end of the picture.

I even did a jump over a table. what a was about 5 feet above that table . according to my friends. I was hitting it with a lot of speeeeeeeeeeed... and overshot the jump by 4 meters or so. And then i landed very hard..

This is a bikemate from me Killerpiet:

There will be more photo's i heard.

Now that looks flowy and fun. Where exactly is that town? Sadly, for all the time I spent in Germany, I never rode a bike there. You could put is some evil downhill from Garmisch, though, and have to change disc pads at the end of every run!

Nice pic's.
If you have the chance to visit Bad Wildbad and Todtnau, it's definitely worth it.
In two weeks we will visit Winterberg........yihoow.

If ya get a chance Lefty go to Bad Wildbad for super technical DH as well as Todtnau for stuff a bit more normal but still more than I could handle. Partsbara from RM lives in Germany and he's at those two places a lot. I believe the Kona 2005 launch is on at Bad Wildbad this weekend if memory serves me correct. I know Partsy is gonna be there.

It is about 80 miles or 102 km's from Dortmund. The distance is only 15 miles. Between Willingen and Winterberg.

It is in the schwarzwald area.

I hope you can see it on the picture. The green flag resembles Dortmund, a big place in Germany. And the red flag Willingen, with a little bit lower to the bottom of it, Winterberg. The also keep skiieng contest there.

I will do that, if i have the chance to go there. I think i need a more beefier, downhill or freeride fully then. With more travel. I heard from a friend of mine, he did it on his Intense Tazer fs with 4 '' of travel, but it wasn;t the most comfortable ride he had.

Like Valve Bouncer said, Bad Wildbad is very rough and super technical.
Well the first time I visited BWB, I was on my 5" Stinky with a Z1 and the DH track was just TOO much to handle, so I decided to try the Biker-X track and had a lot of fun on those fast turns and tablejumps.
The DH track in Todtnau was do-able and the "wildride" was not that extreme, but I broke my BB and crank, so I rented a Stab Primo for 50 euro a day....I should have done that earlier.

Yeahh that is exactly my thought, about it, my bike is also a 5'' inch travel bike. But really dh tracks would be hard to handle i think. This bike of mine is good for freeriding and light dh,and xc and so. But heavy dh is out of his league. From what i have heard, from the tracks in Todtnau, especially the downhill track. That is very hard on your bikeparts. Loose bolts, and worn brakepads, bend disks, suspension that stops working.:( :dead:

So be sure to fasten all your bolts, and check all your stuff, when you are on the bottom of the tracks. That;s is what i heard.

Lefty I did see guys at Bad Wildbad on small travel bikes but they didn't seem to be having a good time. The thing about BW and also Todtnau is that the only way to get any sort of flow going is to go fast and if you go fast you WILL take some big hits, hits that a 5" bike just won't be able to handle. I mean BW, it's hard to even walk down that course let alone ride it and if your gear isn't tip top you will pay the price.
At Todtnau the Wildride would be OK for a 5" bike but the downhill although mellower than BW does have some crook sections. I didn't ride all the DH at Todtnau, I'm not good enough, but the roots there are evil. I think at Todtnau you can do half day dH rentals for 35 Euros (a nice Kona or a nice Orange) so it might be worth it depending on your budget. But yeah, if you wanna ride those places you'll need a proper DH bike and a good set of armour if ya haven't already got it.:)

Yeah that Biker-X track was cool, but that little T-bar ski lift thing that takes ya back up the hill there sucks dog balls. :D
But I was told and I agree Preppie, if you can go fast at BW, you can go fast anywhere. Even thought it owned me I'm glad I went there.:D

How much do you like your face?:D :D Yeah you'll need a full face and body armour especially at BW. The young charger me and Partsbara were riding with at BW took the wrong line and got catapulted about 20 feet thru a rock garden and down a ditch, about as mad a crash as you can imagine. Despite his body armour the young fella was pissin' blood for the next few days. At BW if you fall you are just about guaranteed to land on a rock.
Be warned.

Felix (the guy who rents those DH bikes) won't let you ride without a flackjacket. If you don't have one, Felix has flackjackets (those full plastic MX-gear type things) you can rent. I don't think he has fullface helmets, but I'm not sure.

It is a Votec gs 4.

It works on elastomeres and springs. Nothing more. Really smooth. The elastomers are changeable from hard to soft, and the travel is rebuildable from 60 to 140 mm's. 2.5 '' to about 6 ''.

Yes i have been in Winterberg.. it does have lift acces. Go to my friends site and see this movie of his, while he was riding it in april this year.

It has a ns an d wildride .downhilltrack, and a testrack, to learn to jump.

Dude i wish i lived in germany next to willingen or winterberg. I would hit it everyday. There is a bikefestival this weekend. Go see it if you are in tha neaburhood. But there will be thousands of bikers.. . the whole city of Willingen will be filled with bikers.. sigh. To crowded for me. I will get there later. But hey partsbara good luck with your riding, in Todtnau. It rocks i have heared.

A liftpass in Winterberg, will cost ya 20 euro's for a day. But as the day goeds bye, and you are hitting the bikepark at a later time, it will get a few euro's cheaper. And Willingen will cost ya, 25 for 10 trips in a lift. I thought that Winterberg was more expensive than Willingen.

But when we go upo with the lift IN Willingen, whe always stick around for some time at the top of the freeride strecke. To play around, and do all those tables, and little nortshore stuff there. That way your liftpass will last you 2 days orso. Instead of riding down the freeride strecke only, and go upo with lift again. I think it will take 10 minutes , to get up the mountain. When you get thirsty, there is a bar and restaurant there. :p But we only drink Powerbar right. :p ;)

And i am from Breda a city in The Netherlands, about 3 hours riding or 320 km's from Willingen en Winterberg, that;s only 20 km from eachother.

I must cross the border, at Venlo, to get to Germany, and to Dortmund and places in between, to get to Willingen or Winterberg.

This is the site from Winterberg;

http://www.bikepark-winterberg.de/

http://www.willingen.de/

There is a small camping site/grassfield behind , the icecenter in Willingen, where you stay overnight, and put up your tent. There is a nice bmx track next to, it who is really fun to get a warming up. Totaly free of charge.

The camping in Winterberg will cost you something, but don;t know homemuch. You have figure it out for your self.
