I used to have a pretty bad problem with indigestion, or acid reflux, when I drank sodas. Since giving up the HFCS drinks I rarely get it anymore.

Sodas are also one of the leading causes of obesity in this country.

I have a soda about once a month. That's often enough to remind myself I don't want them any more often than that. I've also stopped adding sugar to iced tea, and switched from chai to espresso. I don't miss any of the liquid sugars.

Pitchman for Las Vegas Heart Attack Grill dies of heart attack

John Alleman, 52, who served as a pitchman for the fatty Las Vegas Grill, suffered a heart attack and was taken off life support on Monday. The burger joint's owner said Alleman, who stood outside the restaurant in a hospital gown and coaxed diners inside, loved the restaurant more than he did and ate there every day.

    ...

Last year, the restaurant made national headlines when two customers suffered heart attack-like episodes while noshing on "bypass" burgers.

In March 2011, a nearly 600-pound man who served as a spokesman for a Phoneix-area franchise, 29-year-old Blair River, died from pneumonia after a bout with the flu.

Basso said Alleman's tragic death should serve as a warning that slim people can suffer heart problems.

"You don't have to be tremendously old or fat. You can be in your 30s and 40s and die of a heart attack," he told the Sun.

so I got that going for me

I recently realized that I turn my nose up at "soda" drinkers, but I consume nearly a can a day of Monster or Rockstar.

Just water and coffee for me. Haven't had a coke in years. Although I would't mind trying a Mexican Coke someday.

Just say no to corn syrup kids.

Carbonated beverages, particularly diet ones have been shown to severely inhibit absorption of calcium. Plus, if you're drinking jugs of soda, I doubt you're dining on anything remotely including a daily dose of calcium anyway.

I probably only drink about one soda a week, never diet. I'm mainly a beer and water drinker. I like juice too.

pretty much the same. but a little less frequently on the soda. lately its about once a month, as every time i finish one i remember why i don't like soda.

if i'm drinking extra calories, you can be damn sure its fermented barley and hops.

i do not tolerate beer very well.
for example, last night, at dinner with some friends, we drank like 3/4-1 bottle of wine each. woke up today ready for work.

if i have more than 2 beers, it will give me a slight hangover. 4 beers, and ill wake up destroyed, with an awful hang over the next day; yet I can have 2 bottles of wine one night, and go to work the next day, with virtually no hangover. and we are talking cheap wine... no fancy ass $100 bottles. mostly $15-$20 bottles.

    Geez, wine???
We used to have a chef at our resort who'd have everybody over and tell us not to worry about alcohol, that he was stocked up. Come over and it's nothing but tons of wine.

Next day, Cell-O poop and a hole in my stomach. How people can get drunk on that much acid is beyond me.

Oh, and damn all of you. I was at Home Depot at lunch and there was MEXICO Coke in the fridge and I bought one. :banghead:

Here. I'm just not sure where "here" is.
My daily liquid consumption is normally 20ish oz of coffee, 16ish oz of 1%milk, 20ish oz of water and 32ish oz of iced tea.

I bet more than good, it works really well and you use it a lot.

No soda for me. Well, okay ginger when I go to the bar and order a whiskey and ginger but that's it; I rarely go out anymore.

Bacteria is what causes cavities. When you have sugar on your teeth, it allows bad bacteria to take over and cause destruction. Such a basic concept. Time for a new dentist, she obviously doesn't care about your welfare, and as a future medical professional (and doing some work within the medical profession now), I would say she doesn't deserve to practice...
