I guess we know which tyres were working today in the mud. Check out the top 10 riders hailing from 10 different countries....nice to see such a wide distribution of talent around the globe.

Calgary, Canada eh?
The course was VERY slick today. At the end of the steepest section probally 1/4 riders would loose it. After watching about 10 crashed we figured that if you did not touch your brakes in the corner you could ride it.. the proved right throughout the races.

Riders where getting right around 2minute times yesterday with the thinking that a sub 2min time would get you on the podium. With the mud anything under 2:30 was amazing to see. For qualifiying when the corse was only a little bit muddy the top four had times of 2:15 (Gracia, rennie, hill, peat top four). The corse was getting worse as time went on. Not very often do you see these guys yelling 'holy F'ing ****' while slidding sideways down a steep. Very fun to watch, maybe not to ride.

I just hope it comes back here next year. Very amazing to see.

ANKA MARTIN in 16th place! That means that they must have gotten a bike together for her! I'm glad she didn't miss out on both world cups due to scum bag bike thieves!!

- Brit (Scot actually) Chris Ball raced in just his briefs, with his number duct taped to his back. He received the biggest cheers of the day, but was disqualified for "removal of clothing". So, the wrong clothing nets you a hefty fine, and no clothing gets you disqualified.
Crazy Scots eh!!

this is so f'ed up...

"Jones was fined 1250 Swiss francs (approximately $1350) and lost 50 international ranking points for not wearing his national champion's jersey. "This is my first World Cup of the year, since I've been out recovering from wrist surgery (broken wrist and torn ligaments last December while dirt jumping), so I didn't know that the officials were enforcing that rule. It's pretty harsh. Mountain biking is having enough trouble as it is - nobody's getting paid except for a few guys."

Jones plans to talk to the CCA and will appeal the decision, which is allowed for any fine over 200 Swiss francs.

Race Note

- Mike Jones pointed out that a friend of his who was speeding at more than double the speed limit in a school zone without insurance was only fined $1100.

- Brit Chris Ball raced in just his briefs, with his number duct taped to his back. He received the biggest cheers of the day, but was disqualified for "removal of clothing". So, the wrong clothing nets you a hefty fine, and no clothing gets you disqualified. So, maybe Mike should have drawn a maple leaf on his chest..."

It looks like a number of riders that recently competed at the muddy US Nationals (WV & VT) did really well in the slippery conditions at Calgary.

A huge congrats to Go-ride team riders:
Chris Vandine - 16th (3rd American)
Karl Rogne - 31st

These guys have been on a never ending road trip racing their bikes at all the Norba gravity events and the two North American World Cups. It looks like all that time on the bikes has been paying off.

And how about my man Derek Chambers in 13th place!

That dude is the only one I'll let wrench the bike - it's great to see him have such an awesome finish! Riding for Evilution bikes too, I know they must be uber stoked with that and Deb MacKillop's 17th place on the women's side.

And what about Riffle. That kid's still a Junior X too! Americans are going to make a comeback on the global level. The amount of young talent in the US is really picking up. That's sick!

The UCI is out of F-ing control. This one specific UCI delegate prick is on a rampage, he is fining anyone and everyone. He is an american dude, I dont know his name, they just call him "the cowboy".

Any computer nerds out there that can send all the spam and viruses to the UCI offices??

In other news, I sure look forward to a race that it doesnt rain!
