Event was fantastic! I was bummed about the format change as well, but i am %100 certain they made the right decision and was glad it was the 'rally' format that they ended up doing. Even still, it was won by a guy on a 29er, but at least he was like 6'5". He also won the climbers prime which...
And congrats to all those involved in putting together a great event! One of the funnest race weekends I've had in quite awhile. Really loved the track and how much effort was clearly put in.
Looking good Dave! Didn't see this thread until now - kind of ironic as I was just cutting up strips of velcro to slap on the new Phoenix this afternoon. Glad people are pumped on them.
I've been rocking this one for almost a year now. I was coming off a Medium MK3 (which was too small for me for trail riding) and my Spitfire is a Large.
It's a pretty sweet bike. I refer to it as a 'trouble maker' when you can open the throttle up, because the geometry of this thing allows...
Both the Pheonix and DHR had RC4's on them when I was testing.
Also, the whole point of making the comment about the lower BB without pedal strikes is just that - the suspension system really does allow the bike to ride higher in its travel and use it in a 'moar' efficient manner. As a...
I had the chance to spend a few days helping Dave out with testing both these bikes over this season and loved the both. I had been on a Sunday with a Pushed DHX for 3 seasons prior.
I had much more time on the Pheonix, which at 6'2" on a Medium felt a little bit small on me, but very VERY fun...
Looks great! Although its quite a big departure from the prior blue/white/black scheme which was really nice.
Woody: this is what the sport needs more of. Its pretty sad when top guys are out there in stock kits with a couple logos screened over them, when compared to all the custom work done...
Back to the original point of offset gate starts - sounds like a really cool format! There was such debate for years over gate starts and whether they should have a cadence or not - the offset would be different enough from BMX to keep things interesting!
Agree with everything but this. Sure, Gwinn could improve his 'marketability', but I think its damn cool how focused he is and never seems to come off as arrogant, just determined.
I reckon Hill has had just a wee bit of an influence in selling a couple bikes here and there... and yet his...
As much experience as Tomac has in his own right, I can only imagine that he's absorbed a lot of useful knowledge watching Eli come through the ranks as well that would be applicable. Cant wait to see the results! Although not likely, at the rate he's progressed who knows we could see a...
Totally agree with Heikki on the Super D. I think Whiteface is in a unique position to capitalize on the terrain there and host an event not many places could do. If you can design a course that can be raced on 5/6" bikes as well as DH bikes you could potentially get a huge turnout.
Interesting that Needles has gotten the boot after one of his best seasons. Although Justin may have more consistent results and seems like a good dude, I feel like Needles has a bit more overall marketability.
Pumped for Gwin to have the best support possible!
Curious about drilling it for better geo, not for shock fitment. I'm sure that would void the warranty though. But for the price of that frame, I'm very curious how it would ride with altered geo and with the money saved put towards a double barrel with ti spring, who knows.
Havnt tried it myself but do remember DW saying awhile ago that it almost felt like the RC4 was made for the sunday it was that significant of an improvement.
