Been waiting on this one for a while now. New bikes are so cool!
Naked and in bondage:
After some fappage with steel wool and aluminum polish, plus a bit of assembly.

The wheels (Azonic Outlaws) are pretty awesome. How can you complain when something combines...
Looks like I might need a new frame for my local rides (Vancouver North Shore, Fromme, Seymour Cypress, etc.). I'm almost 6'6" ~200lbs and tend to ride aggressively. I pedal if I have to, but not all that well. I have a hardtail and a DH bike, so this is the "in betweener" / play bike. The...
After all the Leatt buzz, I decided to go with a neck protector this season. Took me a while to decide, given all the options (not to mention the "it broke my collar bone" controversies). I tried on pretty much everything available including the sport and club versions of the Leatt, the more...
I am looking at running an SRS+ on my new bike. It is a Sinister F-Bomb and I'll be using new style Saint crank arms and BB with an e13 guidering. I have heard elsewhere that there may be some issues with the Saint/ SRS+ combo, but I am not yet certain if that has more to do with the Saint...
Going with new wheels, so I want to know what you think about my hub options. 150mm spacing, laced to MAcic 729s - on a bike that will be used for both DH and FR applications (mostly FR, really).
I am mainly looking at the Hope Pro 2 and the new Saint. Anybody had time on either one?
Cross post from DH forum:
Dreaming up a new build and I am stuck on what fork to choose. Really my question is not "what fork" but "what kind of fork?" I have always ridden SC, but perhaps a DC is in order?
ME: ~200lbs in all my gear. I ride mostly Shore stuff (Seymour, Fromme, Cypress)...

Well, the though has occurred to me that a big bike might be in order. Here is what I will be using it for: Whistler and big stupid things on the Shore that I looked at a couple of years ago and said "whoever made this is a lunatic!"
My current bike is a perfect Shore bike with 6" of travel...
Just had a ton of work done on the bike and on the first ride out the fork blows up. I've got a 2005 Sherman Breakout + that has been modified and I love the feel of it, but now that it needs ANOTHER rebuild I am considering biting the bullet and getting a new fork. In case you did not know it...
I just wanted to put up some feedback on the Drop N Zone in B'Ham. I've been in there a couple of times and they have always been really cool. I just dropped off my bike for some service and I was completely blown away by what happened. I expected the usual "we won't get to it for another...
Dear Gods of Galbraith,
whose trails are so wonderous,
I am but a simple rider,
but I beg of you,
don't take out the Mullet Gap
before I have a chance to hit it.
I promise I won't ride when its too wet.
Amen
This is cross-posted in the Freeride forum, but I'd like to know if there is any different input from the DH crowd.
OK, here's the basics:
Sinister Splinter MX; freerider (WA, BC, North Shore/Whistler - which means I do pedal up from time to time); working up to the 8'+ range for drops...
OK, here's the basics:
Sinister Splinter MX; freerider (WA, BC, North Shore/Whistler - which means I do pedal up from time to time); working up to the 8'+ range for drops (which I like); jumps and gaps are rapidly improving; ~200 lbs in all my gear. Currently running a stock 5th Element w/a...
Hey,
I'm temporarily set up in the Woodinville area and I have no idea where to ride. I really need to get out this week so anybody willing to show me around some of the local freeride trails (assuming there are any)? I might be old and slow and a bit of a FR noob, but I can hold my own...
This is really freaking me out. Those ads that tell you about finding old HS classmates or whatever keep popping up, which is no big deal. Except for the fact that one of those really big hair chicks looks EXACTLY like my sister.:shocked:
~~~CREEPY~~~
I've had an interesting month.
1.) Finished a Ph.D.
2.) bought a SICK custom Sinister Splinter MX (last one ever made:love: )
3.) won my first DH race (OK-only 2 people in my class, but hey :rolleyes: )
4.) got a full expense paid trip to NYC for an interview
5.) just landed a job based in...
AT LONG LAST - the new bike is in. It is the very last single pivot Splinter MX ever made. It is a large, but FTW lowered the standover for me and put a cross brace on it so that I can still pedal. It has a straight tube setup more like the prototype than the CnC work of the production...
I have officially entered the suspension age with a new bike (the very last single pivot Sinister Splinter MX, custom welded by FTW). Took it to a local shuttle run in the pouring rain on Saturday and had a blast. Went from sessioning a series of 12"-18" rock drops to clearing a rather large...
