What you are suggesting doesn't make any business sense, pure and simple. Why should Trek pay for Dave Weagle's name if they filed for this patent first? Trek's name is 10,000x more "recognizable" in the biking world, and they didn't get that way by paying unneccessary licensing fees.

I think you and I have the same issue with Avid brakes, assuming when you say "lever position", you mean pad contact point.
I like very instant pad contact, and I can't seem to get enough fluid into the system once the pads are 1/2 way worn down to facilitate this preference. New pads + fresh...
I agree with your assessment. I am fairly disappointed that the El C have the same classic problems as all Hayes brakes....
#1 - You can't adjust the contact point without moving the lever outward via the barrel adjuster.
#2 - The barrel adjuster unscrews itself which directly affects #1...
What spring rate are you looking to use?
I ride a #500 x 2.8 ti spring on my DHX and it has a wider outer diameter than the stock steel spring. I had to remove the blue bottom out knob on the resovoir to make room for the spring. Wherever you get the spring, make sure they allow returns so...
I'm currently using an all sram setup on my freeride bike, but seem to go through about 4-5 derailleurs a year. I'm dealing with the same dilemna.....sram vs. saint. I like the idea of bolting a saint derailleur directly to my axle, it would definietely be more durable. However, switching over...
This thread is a great idea. I am so sick of the rear derailleur, it has to be the worst invention ever to last 100 years. I've gone through about 4 r/d's this year and bent the dropout on my Free at least 6 times. I did a bunch of research on a Rohloff but it's a very complicated conversion for...
Be very careful tightening the lock ring. I overtightened mine which ended up pinching the bearing and causing major internal damage. Suzanne at Hadley sent me a rebuild kit and instructed me to tighten the lock ring in 1 hour increments if viewing it as a clock. Be warned.
I have a Free, and have owned a Fly. You can flex the rear end of a Free just by pushing and pulling on the rear wheel. Foes uses huge bearings in the main pivot and thicker tubing on the stays to achieve a very stiff rear end.
I just replaced the bearings in my Free after 18 months of hard use and was suprised to feel most of them spinning smoothly. I will keep them in my toolbox in case any of the new ones explode. I have gotten very adept at caring for the pivots, but I'm not sure why anyone would want to lube a...
I've run all kinds of tires on 823's for the last 3 years, all tubeless with Stan's. The most reliable are the standard maxxis dual ply tires, but they are heavy. There is no such thing as a 2.3-2.5 dual ply tire under 1000g, you're dreaming. However, I am currently rolling the Specialized...
