Running RG6 coax in parallel with electrical wire (romex)

Just looked in my basement and noticed that my contractor has run RG6 coax in parallel, same joist holes, with two 15 amp 14-2 circuit home runs. I have heard that running stereo wire in parallel with electrical wire can cause some kind of signal disturbance, but I have no idea if this applies...

Contractor monkeys, those with experience. Portland, OR.

Just got some bids back for a basement remodel. I spent a lot of time researching the "right" contractors on Angie's List and through a couple of recommendations (short on resources there). On Angie's List, reviewers can include a price paid for the work and before and after pictures. Based on...

Best endurance / 24 hour MTB races in west?

I wanted to do the Cascade Creampuff, but I think it is a little unrealistic this year unless I devote my life to training. However, a solid team 24 hour relay, or somewhat shorter solo endurance race would be fun. Willing to travel to CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, NV. Ideas, based on experience? I can...

Ask RM: DIY Guesthouse versus sublet??

Not sure why I'm posting here, but I'm not a member of any other forums, really, so here it goes. I have full basement apartment in a nice part of Portland. I was planning to rent it out as a sublet (maybe under radar), but saw the ad below on CL today and the idea seems appealing. I'm guessing...

    Daschle: Write your Senators

I sent this to friends of mine, but am posting it here as well. I know there is the "Hone$t Mistake" thread as well, but this is a focused action request. Never posted in the political forum before, so not sure on appropriateness. Take or leave, I guess. I'm normally quite far from a...

    downhill fork?

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/877968825.html I actually had two of these back in the day. Amazing that one even survived long enough for someone to make the attempt. I'm sure it's a joke, but...

Sell me your large size mini-DH, 6x6, or 7x7 - In Portland, can meet 1/2 to Seattle

Well, since we don't have a PNW buy and sell anymore, I'll throw up a wanted to see what is out there. Not seeing what I like in the classifieds section, and I know that there are people that ::might:: sell their bikes if prompted, but aren't itching so bad that they post them for sale. I'm...

Classic bike? Montagna and the "cuda fin"???

Hey, I picked up a bike a few years ago at a garage sale. Fixed it up pretty slick and am now trying to sell it to move (read: this is NOT spam). I'm trying to learn more about the bike, as collectors keep asking me for details and I really don't have any. So... Does anyone remember a brand...

Looked online - quick help: Campy Mirage levers take reach adjusting shims / adjust?

Looking at a bike on Craigslist that has Campy Mirage components. I'm not seeing any reach adjustment on them, and don't see any reference to them taking shims like Shimano integrated levers do. Anyone know differently? Thanks!

Looking for a bike for my girl. 48-52 cm, with 50 being the ideal. Would prefer a cross bike, then touring, then road. Looking for flexibility in tire selection and ease of rack and fender mounting, as it will be mostly for commuting. Looking for something new(ish), but anything produced in the...

Rides in the Enterprise / Joseph areas in Eastern Oregon???

Headed to Joseph, OR for a four day respite over Thanksgiving. Anyone know some good XC, AM, or DH rides in that area? I know much of the USFS land there is designated Wilderness, but there has to be some decent tracks to be had? I'll be taking my AM bike, so I'm open to everything. I'll be...

WANTED in Portland / SW WA: Hardtail XC Frame (nice) and a hardtail XC/DJ frame (old)

Hey all... I can move this to a different location if desired, but I figured it would get more traffic here than in the buy/sell, and I'd like to get a frame locally. You help me, I help you... 1) I recently cracked my XC frame. I'm looking for a LARGE (or maybe medium, if it runs big) XC...
