The Connecticut "Fail!" - aka the Connecticut Whale

So recently former Hartford Whalers owner Howard Baldwin came back to town and worked diligently to buy and gain control of our AHL franchise - formerly known as the Hartford Wolfpack. The end result became the lame-ass named Connecticut Whale (instead of Whalers - still nobody is 100 percent...

Hardtail frame with horizontal dropouts and derailleur hanger

Guys, Gals, I can run the wheel all the way forward if using gears on this type of set up correct? I know I couldn't do that in SS mode as I needed room to move the wheel forward to slacken the chain for wheel removal, but with gears I should be fine running all the way forward right...

    Flat Screen TV Help!

We've got a budget of around $600.00 - would prefer to be at around Five Bills though. What's good? I need help. LCD vs. Plasma? which is better? Has to be about a 42" Diagonal Screen to fill the slot in the custom woodwork that came with Laura's house and that currently houses the...

    New Hoops for the SnakeDriver

Picked up some Velocity P35s laced to SRAM disc hubs from bullitboyz about a week or so ago and mounted them up to an Ardent 2.25 in back and Rampage 2.35 in front and installed them on the SnakeDriver. I think these are the widest rims I've owned - pretty wild. I hope they hold up well...

Regional 29er Geometry (East Coast, Midwest, West Coast, PNW)

How's about this for a discussion thread? What makes for a good regional 29er geometry configuration for a 29er trail bike (not an uber light XC race machine here). East Coast - Short Chainstays, High or Low bottom bracket height?, shorter ETTs? steeper HT angles? Or Slacker? 100mm or say...

Help Needed --Seeking BMX Bike for my Son

I could use some help folks. My 14 year old would like me to help him (he'll be pitching in a little $$) get a new BMX bike. His old Haro F5 will go to his younger brother. What are some good brands/values/bikes out there for say $300.00 or so that would fit the bill. If it helps, my...

New (to me) bike is done! Now I need to actually ride the damned thing.

Finished this up on Saturday while we were getting that nasty rain in the a.m. Now I just need to get out and actually ride it - or any bike for that matter. 2006 Marin Wolf Ridge built up with parts bin parts primarily and stuff off of other bikes in the stable, and a few bits bartered...

So if I go 1x9 on my Marin Wolf Ridge.........

Which e-thirteen product is most economical/effective for me to choose? The bike is a 2006 Wolf Ridge that I'll be running with dual 650b wheels and a Manitou Nixon fork up front. I was thinking of going 1x9 32T chainring with an 11:34 cassette in back. The frame has no ISCG tabs and my...

    2010 NHL Playoffs Thread

Okay the "real" season is about to begin!! Who's going to take a sip out of Lord Stanley's Cup this year? Sabres? Capitals - do they have the goaltending? Coyotes? Will the Sharks tank yet again this year? Red Wings? Will Toews and Kane lead the Blackhawks to the title? Or will Sid the...

    Thoughts and Opinions

Okay so this thing is eventually destined for LX Trekking chainrings, an 11:34T cassette, SRAM Grip Shifters and front and rear derailleur. I don't want an aggressive geometry road bike, I don't want to run 23c tires, I want gears to pedal well on flats but also to be able to climb easily...
