a touch of the brakes is ok, you can recover from that without dropping the wheel usually, but yes a perfect manual has no use of brakes. practice fufanus or whatever those things are where you stall on the back wheel then hop backwards. practice on as big a ledge as you can. that will get...

how old is too old ?

You'll never reach fame unless you're doing it for fun and not fame, anyway. Getting into the sport at 15 is great. By 18 or 19 you'll be quite experienced already. It depends how much you ride, I only get to ride once every couple weeks so I'm getting old too fast.

    What bike for learning/general riding?

I recommend the Santa Cruz Chameleon. It's a strong frame that can take a decent amount of abuse, but has much better geometry for trials than most other burlier hardtails - you don't want a DS/DH frame for trials moves because it will be far too slack angled. The Chameleon has steep enough...

    specialized hardrock comp

As soon as you've reached a level where you're doing pure trials moves, like hopping on obstacles on your back tire, it's time to move on to a trials bike. All aspects of a trials frame's geometry will help you tremendously for trials riding - the higher BB height, shorter chainstays, longer...

Help with some burly hardtail pics...

if you take the URL in the address bar on your browser when viewing the page with the pic of your bike, instead of taking the URL of the actual image, and just posting it as a link on here, we can click it. :) But even when I click the URL of the image it comes up as access denied

    P.2 for trials?

Probably the biggest issue with trials in the P.2 is the length - the P.2 is very short, and for trials you want a longer bike! If you put a longer stem, like 100mm, on it, I'm sure it wouldn't be too bad - but a V-brake is generally much preferred over a disc (especially a Hayes Cable! Those...

DudeB - pink and lime! Damn! I hope I can get the funds together to get in line for an Endless Lifetime (with custom paint) for next season! In the meantime I want to lighten up my Le Toy.. getting a bit rediculous for my needs at 37ish pounds!

    Trials on BMX

It would suck ass for trials. Length of the bike is the main issue. There are many other small issues too. You'd be MUCH MUCH better off learning trials on a mountain bike with decent brakes.

Mine keeps getting heavier. :( I ride aggro-XC & light freeride typically but am attracted to parts designed for tanks and heavy machinery.. I gotta hold back from the urge for a .243 stem for my shimmed bar, or my bike'll be damn near 38. :monkey:

26" CX tire for my MTB

Not sure if they're discontinuing it or what, but the Maxxis Wormdrive is a sweet tire for the job. 1.9 but very fast.

New pic of the Le Toy, only changes I think are cromo cranks and a thomson stem.. all that i need now is a 24 seatclamp and a pair of atomlab rims :) Not very burly at 22 lbs but I do bigger drops on this than the Le Toy :o: Same as I've prolly posted before but with DX32 rear rim...
